Don't waste your $
by calicokitty (162 reviews)Top 100 ReviewerTrusted ReviewSmells great but doesn't do anything for color depositing like the name suggests. This shampoo does not build up and cleans nicely. Sales Associates may try to sell you this to complement the matching conditioner (conditioner is WONDERFUL) but please don't be a sucker like I was. They told me this shampoo is supposed to &...quot;prep" your hair for the clove conditioner (so the color deposit adheres better) - but it's just false claims. I use a color-safe shampoo with the Clove conditioner and it works just the same, if not better. November 15, 2007, 7:33 pm5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Aveda Vintage Clove Shampoo
by beauty411 (23 reviews)Total Beauty BloggerVintage Clove Shampoo uses organic clove, coffee and aloe to enhance brown hair with warm honey tones. The smell is wonderful. It's a blend of organic lemon, ylang-ylang, black pepper and other Pure Flower and Plant Essences. I seriously think Aveda owns the market, when it comes to good smelling products! Used regularl...y, if you have brown or warm shades of hair, Vintage Clove Shampoo will enhance the shades. I like it to help extend time-between-colorings and love how soft it leaves your hair. not worth it
by rayna7 (4 reviews)Doesn't really act as a coloring agent. If you use this in the shower as most people do, prepare for alot of brown residue on places other than hair. November 29, 2007, 3:41 pm1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Not Worth the Price
by Share (20 reviews)When I received my Aveda Dry Recovery System to test and review, this was also in the package. I have to admit, after using this product for the past few weeks, I must say that I am not impressed with this product. The texture of this shampoo is quite similar to drugstore shampoos, and it reminded me of the Pantene Pro V Br...unette shampoo. However unlike the Pantene shampoo, which smelled like fake chocolate this one had quite a lovely clove scent to it. When I applied this shampoo to my hair, it lathered pretty well in my hair, and I was able to wash my hair to my satisfaction pretty easily. I definitely felt that this shampoo cleaned my hair well, and it felt nice and soft afterwards. Even though this stuff is quite nice, I don't think it's worth the Aveda price point. A small bottle of this shampoo is $10 and a larger bottle is $27. I prefer not to spend that type of money on my hair care, especially when I can get my Aussie for $3. Super great smell
by beautyalchemist (43 reviews)Top 500 ReviewerTotal Beauty BloggerThis is one of the best smelling shampoos ever. To me, it's like Dr. Pepper in a way. Cleans really well. Not too moisturizing, so not for dry hair. A nice, basic shampoo that gets hair clean and shiny and smelling great. December 12, 2008, 8:36 pm0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I personally love this
by Starberry (10 reviews)Total Beauty BloggerSince I am a brunette, I hoped that this shampoo would be everything it claims to be. And it is. It has a fresh herbal scent, although it occasionally reminds me of Robitussin DM. I find the consistency of this shampoo to be a little less thick as normal shampoos, but that doesn't mean a thing when you notice how soft your... hair feels after using it. But I would say the best thing about this shampoo is that it really does bring out the best of dark hair. It gives it a great looking shine paired up with an equally excellent texture. Left my hair frizzy & stripped
by bionicbeauty (126 reviews)Top 100 ReviewerTotal Beauty BloggerTrusted ReviewI have to admit, I was a bit stemmied by a "Vintage 1978 Shampoo" that I received from Total Beauty and Aveda. Vintage shampoo? Huh? But I've ALWAYS wanted to try some Aveda products, so I happily bounded off to the shower to have a test wash. The bottle itself is cute and kitschy, with obvious graphics to induce... memories of the 70's era. I also love that Aveda products are manufactured with 100% wind energy. How grand is that?!?! Love it. On to the shampoo itself. The Clove shampoo is made to enhance darker blondes and medium to light brunette hair by coating the cuticle with shine and using ingredients to enhance your natural highlights. I noticed incredible shine after one use. Amazing shine! But I also had incredible frizz... boo. I think this shampoo might work well for fine-haired gals like me if we just use it once a week as a detox/clarifying shampoo rather than daily. Plus, be sure to follow it up with a good conditioner. So my first foray into Aveda was mighty disappointing for me. I know the brand has loads of fans, but this shampoo just did not impress me. It's not horrible, but certainly not a stellar stand-out either. I adore the cola smell and shine, but will have to pass on repurchase due to the stripped and frizzy way it left my hair. Aveda Vintage Clove Shampoo: Fantastic!
by iheartheels (26 reviews)Total Beauty BloggerBrunettes, listen up! Now you can save the world and your strands too with Aveda's limited-edition Vintage Clove Shampoo, inspired by the very first product ever made by Aveda - the Clove Pure Plant Shampoo. This modern version is remade with recycled caps and over 96% recycled content for the bottle (the shampoo formula is... the same) and is in celebration of Aveda's 30th anniversary! Since I myself am a redhead, I asked a family friend to give it a try for a couple of weeks and see what she thought. She, of course, jumped on it, crossing her fingers her tresses would come out looking tres fabulous. And they did. I didn't tell her the shampoo was meant to enhance her brown hues, making them a richer, darker shade. Here's exactly what H. said: "The shampoo has a rich lather...and the fragrance is soft, but pleasant. It rinses easily, and my hair feels very clean after using it. I've had several people ask if I have darkened my hair since I have been using it. They think I colored my hair, but I guess the color is just more noticable. I can't really tell a difference when I look at it, though." It's made of organically grown clove and organically grown coffee to enhance the warm, brown color. And let me just say, the scent is fantastic! Lemon, ylang ylang and black pepper combine with other pure flower and plant essences to create a truly great aroma you'll love. Follow with Clove Conditioner daily and you should see a intensity in color and shine. November 7, 2008, 2:16 pm0 of 0 people found this review helpful.
