    Smells great but does nothing

This shampoo doesn't cleanse very well and it certainly didn't add any color to my brunette hair. I think it's supposed to do both of these things and fails miserably. Yes, it smells wonderful but otherwise it sucks and that includes the matching conditioner. I returned both products to the salon where I purchased them. They weren't too happy about it and seemed to question my reasons for retu...read morerning them, but in the end, gave me my money back. I will stick with Shea Moisture products, which are awesomely wonderful and less than half the price!!

    Aveda????

Why would anyone pay good money for anything Aveda? The color is terrible and the products are worse. Go Pantene save so cash and get the same lame results

    Aveda never fails

I've used Aveda my whole life and trust all of their products. I specifically buy this shampoo and love how it controls my moisture level and detangles and makes it smell amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone with dark hair, and my mother uses the one designed for blonds and that works the same as well. With Aveda you're forced to pay more, but I'm personally never let down!

    Not Worth the Price

When I received my Aveda Dry Recovery System to test and review, this was also in the package. I have to admit, after using this product for the past few weeks, I must say that I am not impressed with this product. The texture of this shampoo is quite similar to drugstore shampoos, and it reminded me of the Pantene Pro V Brunette shampoo. However unlike the Pantene shampoo, which smelled like fake...read more chocolate this one had quite a lovely clove scent to it. When I applied this shampoo to my hair, it lathered pretty well in my hair, and I was able to wash my hair to my satisfaction pretty easily. I definitely felt that this shampoo cleaned my hair well, and it felt nice and soft afterwards. Even though this stuff is quite nice, I don't think it's worth the Aveda price point. A small bottle of this shampoo is $10 and a larger bottle is $27. I prefer not to spend that type of money on my hair care, especially when I can get my Aussie for $3.

    Super great smell

This is one of the best smelling shampoos ever. To me, it's like Dr. Pepper in a way. Cleans really well. Not too moisturizing, so not for dry hair. A nice, basic shampoo that gets hair clean and shiny and smelling great.

    I personally love this

Since I am a brunette, I hoped that this shampoo would be everything it claims to be. And it is. It has a fresh herbal scent, although it occasionally reminds me of Robitussin DM. I find the consistency of this shampoo to be a little less thick as normal shampoos, but that doesn't mean a thing when you notice how soft your hair feels after using it. But I would say the best thing about this shamp...read moreoo is that it really does bring out the best of dark hair. It gives it a great looking shine paired up with an equally excellent texture.

Left my hair frizzy & stripped

I have to admit, I was a bit stemmied by a "Vintage 1978 Shampoo" that I received from Total Beauty and Aveda. Vintage shampoo? Huh? But I've ALWAYS wanted to try some Aveda products, so I happily bounded off to the shower to have a test wash. The bottle itself is cute and kitschy, with obvious graphics to induce memories of the 70's era. I also love that Aveda products are manufactured...read more with 100% wind energy. How grand is that?!?! Love it. On to the shampoo itself. The Clove shampoo is made to enhance darker blondes and medium to light brunette hair by coating the cuticle with shine and using ingredients to enhance your natural highlights. I noticed incredible shine after one use. Amazing shine! But I also had incredible frizz... boo. I think this shampoo might work well for fine-haired gals like me if we just use it once a week as a detox/clarifying shampoo rather than daily. Plus, be sure to follow it up with a good conditioner. So my first foray into Aveda was mighty disappointing for me. I know the brand has loads of fans, but this shampoo just did not impress me. It's not horrible, but certainly not a stellar stand-out either. I adore the cola smell and shine, but will have to pass on repurchase due to the stripped and frizzy way it left my hair.
