Great Lipscrub and prepper
I use this in the morning to scrub my lips. I use the balm to condition before applying lipstick. The balm is nice and smooth and soft. It really softens the lips. It does not taste as good as the scrub. The scrub is a sugar scrub that is wonderful! If the balm wasn't on the other side I would just eat it. It's that good. It really takes away the flakes. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry I will use both sides at once (from the top) and the lip balm mixes with the sugar scrub for a nice quick scrub and moisturizing effect. I see it is on sale at tarte. I am afraid they are discontinuing. I love the packaging. The two sided design is quick and easy. The little pop up mirror is adorable. I took an old empty and took out the parts inside and it makes a great toothpick holder - and you have the mirror to see your teeth! I am sure I could come up with more ways to recycle my old tubes. Of course they come in pretty purple tarte packaging. I do think the price tag is too hefty for what it is. Used every day a tube doesn't last long at all. The $10 sale price is nice, but I still think that is too much for how fast you can go through the product. Overall I think it's a great product that hasn't gotten enough love (probably due to the price point and the double sided application.) Now I have to find a good replacement lip scrub/balm if they discontinue it. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Good product, yummy smell, convenient
I love this 2 in 1 product. The sugar side is so yummy smelling I just want to eat it (but I don't!) It is good for a quick exfoliation. The balm side seals lips with moisture and keeps them soft and smooth. It portable and can be stashed in your purse for lip care on the go. It's not rich enough for overnight use but for daytime it's perfect. When applied lightly it can be worn under lipstick for extra moisture. The cute flip up mirror is a plus for this product and application of other lip products. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Disappointing
I'm always on the lookout for good vegan lip balms, so I was really excited to try this one by Tarte. The packaging is cute and clever, but the product itself is subpar. I found the exfoliator hard to use--I expected it to leave a layer of scrub on my lips, but it just kind of rubbed back and forth without leaving anything behind. I didn't notice that it had much of a softening effect. The balm was even more disappointing. It had a very waxy texture, and it didn't feel anywhere near moisturizing enough. I have had to apply it repeatedly before bed, and I still wake up in the night with uncomfortably parched lips. I apply it before I leave for work, and I have to use another balm as soon as I get to my desk. Not a fan. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Remarkable packaging, unremarkable product
I bought this because I really need a good lip exfoliator. I am one of those people addicted to lip balms in the worst way: gotta have some at all times. But I still wind up with flaky lips. So I ordered this online, not even knowing about the packaging, just knowing that I like Tarte and $12 didn't seem TOO pricey if it came with a good exfoliator and a rich balm. The packaging blew me away. I wish all lipsticks came like this. A little mirror? Wonderful! But totally unnecessary for this particular product, wouldn't you say? It's a colorless lip treatment you just rub on, why do you need a mirror? You don't. As for the product itself, I wasn't too impressed. I like the rough side OK, because it's pretty easy to just rub on, but the balm side is bo-ring and not very effective. You don't feel it. My stick is worn down on one side (can you guess which?) I wouldn't buy this again, and now I think $12 is far too much. And it's the packaging you are probably really paying for, which, while clever and awesome, is useless here. Sell the product for $8, improve the balm, and lose the fancy mirror stuff, and it'd be something I'd buy again and again. Meanwhile, if everyone used this fantastic mirror packaging on all lipsticks and glosses I would be ecstatic! — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

I've used better.
This product looked so cool in the store, and for the price ($11) I thought i would give it a try. However, I don't like the fact that you really need to rub the exfoliater for it to work. The stick ends up breaking and making it very hard to use properly. I have seen similar products that have this combination blended so you can use it as a lipstick, ( with the exfoliator in the middle of the stick). I'm gonna keep shopping around i guess.... — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

a good deal
I actually thought this product was pretty well priced for how nice it is and all that it does, like I love the little mirror on the outside of the case. The packaging is pretty clever. The exfoliating side of the stick is pretty good but I mostly just end up licking the sugar off my lips. It's good tasting, though! And the other side is like a standard good balm. It's a nifty product overall. I like to include it as a funny extra in presents for my friends! — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Ingenious lip fix
Tarte FRXtion is a very inexpensive product, but it is wonderful. It has a sugar srub exfoliant on one side of the "lipstick" and a lip smoother/conditioning balm on the other side. It also has a small mirror as part of the compact, for quick fix's away from home. This is one product that will remain in my arsenal forever!! great fix!
I liked this stuff. it's not a overall fix for lips that are falling apart, but a good prevenative measure. the sugar scrub side wears off faster than the other side though... — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Quick solution to icky flaky lips : )
As the other reviewers said; this stuff does wonders for flaky lips...I like to use it once a day more to prevent my lips from getting to that point though! It has a great sugary maple syrup kind of flavor and the balm is incredibly soothing to raw lips (esp in winter!) The packaging itself is really nice with the mirror being a nice touch. Hey, if you're going to spend $ on something; it's nice that it LOOKS worth the $!! Lastly, this thing lasts forever-I've had the same one for almost 6 months with daily use! Go and buy this (if you can find it of course!) — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
