Editor Review

Rated a 5

The appeal of this glamorously bottled polish lies in its brand name and coveted, unique colors, but not in much else. Treat freshly manicured nails with care at all times or polish will chip within a week. The decorative bottle cap can separate from the twist top beneath it on occasion -- a bummer. Nails don't feel stronger or more moisturized than they do with cheaper polishes like OPI. Although I've never tipped over the rectangular bottle, I wouldn't call it "non-spill."

    A Love/Hate Relationship With It

    by cheetah11 (151 reviews)
    Top 100 ReviewerTrusted Review
The reason I said that is because although the colors are just absolutely gorgeous, they tend to chip on me quite easily, especially the darker colors. My Black Satin chipped off in 2 days. At first I thought it was just the bottle I had so when I got another bottle, the same thing happened, only it chipped after 1 day. ...It's too bad because Chanel's nail polishes have excellent colors that goes on opaque and dries in a quick, but for this price, it should last a little longer. I've had better luck with Essie , Opi and Zoya. October 4, 2009, 10:45 pm

    Love it!

    by hrhclaire (30 reviews)
This is my favorite nail polish. It is expensive but worth the money. It glides on easily and stays un-chipped for a long time. I am very busy and this nail polish allows me to go for longer without painting my nails because they stay looking nice longer. It is far superior to cheap nail polish. The main difference tha...t I have noticed is that the red does not dye my nails yellow or pink like other polishes. Great product in a chic bottle! April 24, 2008, 8:20 pm

    Chanel Nail Color

    by Ratgirl (1 review)
I don't know how they do it. I find Chanel nail colors to go on better, last longer, and stay fresh longer than ANY other brand I have tried in the past 30 years. They cost more, but if I have to use twice as much of a cheaper polish because the initial coat bubbles, if I have to throw away a bottle of a cheaper brand afte...r a year because it separates hopelessly, but I can keep the Chanel for 10 years (no kidding) and MAYBE have to thin it once a year-- well, the cheaper brand isn't really cheaper, and causes me lots of aggravation to boot! Worth Any Price!!!

    by Fifty2Two (2 reviews)
This is the best nail polish you can buy! The color is always one coat and deep and rich. A bottle will last at least six months...problem is that colors are always changed and it is hard to find every shade all the time. You can buy this at duty free shops for about $8. You can stock up and keep this in the freezer. The li...lac polish is glossy, deep and long wearing!!! November 21, 2007, 6:48 pm

Just got my First and my Last Chanel Nail Polish

    by Scotland0303 (10 reviews)
The first bottle of polish I got went on very thick and didn't spread very easily. I took this back because it was as if the polish was old and started getting too tacky. Chanel replaced it and the results were better, however, my polish is already chipping. I spent my Sunday morning doing my manicure and the next day I ...have to redo it - major chipping going on. You will need a top-coat over your polish for your manicure to endure longer than a few hours. This is just really not worth the money, and I am so sad becuase I love the colour. I will find an Essie or OPI colour that looks like Blue Satin, instead. April 10, 2008, 11:12 am

Shade Allegoria (better than Ballet Slippers!)

    by COCOACHiCBeauty (4 reviews)
Chanel nail lacquers are awesome - lasting, no chip, true to color, good consistency, good shine. My pedicure lasted for weeks AND looked fresh (but they may also speak a little to the application of an excellent pedicurist). Yes, pricey, but so absolutely worth it. Shade Allegoria is a beautiful pink/nude that looks fab...ulous on chocolate (dark-skinned) girls! December 19, 2007, 7:58 am

    Lasts Beautifully On Me

    by AmberGretchen (102 reviews)

I have to disagree with the review on this one - my experience has been that my Chanel Ballerina, in one thin coat with a base and top coat, lasts like gangbusters and looks beautiful and natural. I put it on my mom the same way and it lasted really well for her as well. December 3, 2007, 4:55 pm

This is such a waste of money!!!

    by Ingastar (3 reviews)
Let me first say that I am pretty much a Chanel girl. I love most everything they make. But . . . this polish is just not up to Chanel standards. The colors are usually very pretty but compared to other brands (like OPI, Essie, even drugstore brands) it does not hold up. For example, I bought Black Satin when it first c...ame out and was so excited - only to have it chip less than 12 hours later. The comparably colored black polish I bought from Nailtini stays on for at least 5-6 days without a chip (and without a top coat). I have given Chanel polish so many chances but I have to give this a thumbs down. There is no reason to pay this much for polish unless it is a GREAT polish and this polish is simply less than average. November 30, 2007, 9:56 pm

    ehhh....

    by ImMissWorld (3 reviews)
I have one bottle of Chanel nail polish in Noir Ceramic (a sort of black that was their most popular color last year). The color is fun and very chic but is it worth the price? I would say no. For a polish that is so expensive I expected so much more from it. Unless you don't have to pay for the polish like me, (it was ...an xmas gift from a friend) theres really no reason to have Chanel nail polish. You can find beautiful nail polish colors from OPI, essie and even brands they sell in drug stores. November 17, 2007, 3:16 pm

    Blue Satin is Pretty!

    by nillacookie (28 reviews)
    Total Beauty BloggerTrusted Review
When I first wore Blue Satin over New Year’s Eve, I applied two coats to my nails; this proved to be too dark, it looks almost black. So I tried it again, applying just one coat and this time, the true color with all its blue shimmer glory really comes through and I love it! I like Chanel's formulas for polish; it's easy... for me to paint nails myself. But, it isn't any more chip resistant than any other polish out there. Vamp is still my all-time Chanel fave!
