Editor Review

Rated a 8.5

A shampoo that helps straighten hair seems like a hoax, but this one appears to work. It made blow-drying my long waves into a straight style easier, although I did use the coordinating Smooth Infusion Conditioner, which seems to be key to getting the full benefits. The shampoo contains luxurious smoothing and hydrating ingredients like organic aloe, maize and guar bean. And it has a fresher scent than some of the classic Aveda shampoos that can smell too earthy.

The scent is way too strong

Aveda products may work but their scent is way to overpowering - it gives me a headache! February 4, 2008, 6:49 am

    Flat out bad.

I used this shampoo and conditioner because my hair stylist recommended it. I was very let down. Yes, it tamed the fly-aways, but it left my hair flat and boring. But, like all Aveda, it smells fantastic. June 9, 2008, 11:55 am

Admitedly I am not an Aveda fan, never having any of the products to be truly beneficial. This was no exception. The results were lackluster, and my hair felt drier than normal after using this shampoo. May 3, 2008, 8:27 pm

    Doesn't work for me

    by antonia14_us (5 reviews)
I have wavy hair that is not hard to style straight or curly with the right products. I only use Aveda hair products and their Hang Straight used to work really well for me when I wanted to style my hair straight. Compared to that, the Smooth Infusion line is a bit of a disappointment. I tried this shampoo with the conditio...ner and the style-prep. Even after blow drying with a big round brush, my hair springs back into waves. I'm now letting my hair air-dry after using these products and it manages to leave my hair wavy without too much frizz. Really Great

    by iamaam2 (2 reviews)
I am partial to Aveda products-they are all natural and mostly organic, and the Aveda company does so much for the environment. I use Smooth infusion Shampoo, Conditioner and style prep and they work together like a dream. I have thick, coarse, difficult and wavy hair and I don't even need to flat-ron my hair after using th...ese products-i can just blow dry it straight and my hair is smooth, shiny and full of movement. Best if used all together, but shampoo and conditioner alone makes a world of difference compared to others May 22, 2008, 7:50 am
