"Universal"? Um, only if you live in a universe full of coarse-haired people. If you do, apply this thick cream to dry hair to infuse with moisture and shine via coconut, aloe and jojoba, plus a mega dose of that classic Aveda scent (people always comment -- it's that sniff-tastic). For those with fine hair, don't even look at this tube. Normal-haired? Moderation is key, or oily wrath on par with the Exxon Valdez awaits you.

    Not Quite Universal But Good For All Hair Types

    Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling creme has definitely been a good choice for my course, frizzy, dry hair. I do not color my hair but with age my poker straight hair as a kid as turned into the bush beast. My 12 year old daughter has medium, oily hair but if used properly, "less is more" works well on her hair a...s well. The user must know their hair to make this product universal and once you try it you'll love it! The package directions also tell the user "layer very small amounts for best use". I also like the aspect of Aveda's nature based scents and ingredients. I consider Aveda a "green product". December 7, 2007, 4:30 am

    love love love it!

    the smell, as we all know, is heavenly. i may be the only woman in existence with fine hair who hasn't sworn off this magical product! when i'm done styling, i use a pea-size amount, smooth it between my palms, and rub it all through the ends of my hair. it holds the style and adds a touch of shine. i always have Brilli...ant in my bathroom!     I use this on my hair regularly. I have thick coarse hair and it does keep my hair manageable. I use a dime size amount of brilliant and then I add 3 pumps of elements smoothing lotion. It leaves my hair soft, I can blow dry any style I wish to. I really like the diversity this product gives my hair style when used with... elements. Pssst....my hair dresser taught me to use it with elements. May 30, 2008, 9:27 am

    Brilliant? Yes It Is!

    Love this stuff!! As a person with course hair, this tames it like nothing else, and the fragrance, as others have said, is magnifique!! I am SO tired of that green apple scent you get with so many hair products! Just a small amt of this product, rubbed into both palms before application, and voila! Behaving, beautiful ...hair, even on a humid day. LOVE IT! March 30, 2008, 5:45 pm

    Tames Gray Hair

    Having grayed considerably in the last few years, my stylist suggested that I use this to tame the new growth of wiry, gray hair. After styling, I would rub a little in my hands, and then "tame" just the gray hairs at the roots. Since the introduction of Smooth Infusion, I retired Brilliant Universal Styling Cre...ame. But guess who snagged it? My husband. He has coarse, kinky hair, and this works wonders on his mane. June 5, 2008, 12:03 pm

    Great for controlling frizz

    I have thick, wavy hair and this gives me great control and reduces frizz in the summer. Makes your hair feel smooth and silky. Probably not good for people with fine hair as it may be too heavy and weigh hair down. February 16, 2008, 6:18 am

    Much better than anticipated

    I'm a redken girl, but my stylist used this before my blowdry and I decided to try a bottle myself. Big fan! I have a lot of hair with a wave to it and just using this any my blowdryer gave me excellent control. I'd recommend it! May 11, 2009, 6:50 am

  • Apply a small amount of BrilliantTM Universal Styling Creme to dry hair. Distribute evenly with an Aveda Paddle Brush. Brush, curl or straighten for style formation with incredible shine. Apply to clean, conditioned, damp hair for light control and brilliant shine. For men with bangs—apply a strip of product to the ends of a fine tooth comb. Comb short bangs upwards to create "straight-up" style. To achieve the perfect soft finger wave on highly-textured hair, comb a liberal amount into damp hair and wave set. Cover with a hair net and dry under the dryer. Comb out and style as desired.
