If you have very very dry skin, this is meant for you. You can tissue it off, or rinse it off. What is good about the jar is that you get all the product out. I don't really like cleansers I can't rinse off. This seems to do the job and leaves my skin moisturized but it's not really cleaning well enough - It leaves a residue no matter how much a wipe it away that clogs pores and dulls skin.
