This is probably the only product by Proactiv that I don't think is awful. The refining mask is okay as on overnight treatment on spots, but isn't terribly impressive as an actual facial mask. There are many much cheaper options that work for better. — 1 year, 3 months ago

Great Mask and Spot Treatment!

I am 37 and use the entire Proactiv line. The Refining Mask is super stinky but effective as both a mask and spot treatment. This keeps my pores clean and helps to bring out any hidden acne lurking around. I have found Origins Charcoal Mask, and it works just as well without the stink! — 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Sulfur smells like...

Rotten eggs. If you can stand the smell of this mask, go for it. The sulfur does help reduce the inflammation of the zits. However, the smell is so strong that you might not want this on your face. — 11 months ago

Good Spot Treatment

I am a fan of this. I use it in the PM, and just dab a little bit on my breakout areas. It doesn't clog pores, dries nice and easy, and doesn't dry out my skin. I would never use this on areas that I am not broken out on... only because I have dry skin and I think it would dry out those spots even more. You can easily find this and other Proactiv products on E bay, so the price could possibly be very cheap. Didn't care for this...

I didn't really care for this mask. I felt like I was putting wet, ground up caulk on my face. I tried to use it as a spot treatment....Although my husband laughed at me for coming to bed with white marks all over my face, I woke up the next morning and I didn't notice any changes....other then the residue from the white spots. I love the Proactiv system, however I won't purchase this item. — 3 years, 7 months ago

Not Results I Expected

While this mask did take away some of the redness I had with blemishes it did not do anything as far as drying them. I even used it as a spot treatement overnight as was recommended. I noticed no difference. — 3 years, 12 months ago

Any product with sulpher will work as a great overnight spot treatment. Try St. Ives Clay Mask or Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask for under $6.00 for the same result and about eight times the size of the one ounce trial size you get with the ProActive Trial Size Kit. — 1 year, 1 month ago

Awesome Results, Questionable Price

Unfortunately, this was the trial size that came with my ProActiv set that was the only product that seemed to help with my blemishes as a teenager. Although, it's been years since those days, I still can recall the strong smell of sulfur and that this mask is a lot like clay, thick and creamy, hard when dry. Is it worth paying $20.00 for this face mask though? Perhaps not as there are other items that have similar ingredients out there for a fraction of the price but let me explain the benefits it offered me. First of all, this dried up any excess oil on my face and cleansed the dirt out of my pores as well as acting as an exfoliant and removed blackheads. This is a multi-tasking item that sure had worked for me. When I ran out of the product though, I went on a search for something similar and indeed, I found it for only fifteen percent of the price. I really don't feel like paying for the marketing and other factors that may increase the price tag of this product so I won't be repurchasing since I get the same treatment elsewhere for less! I'm no cheapskate but let's face it, there is somewhat of an inconvenience to this as well because they're sold only in certain vending machines, department stores, and authorized retailers/kiosks but why bother when the drugstore or a local mass merchant is just a few minutes away or even down the street? — 4 years ago

It works well

I didn't see much from the other proactive products. Yet, I loved this, It cleared up red bumps and zits. It also made my pores smaller. Good Stuff!! Great to apply on white heads and break outs due to mentral cycle. Can use a dab and the zit will look 100% in the morning. — 3 years ago

Didn't work as a spot treatment

I actually like the Proactiv system in general, but this is one product that didn't work for me. It was fine when I tried it as a general mask, but not any better than an inexpensive clay mask from the drugstore. What really disapointed me was that it didn't work at all as a spot treatment. I tried putting it on pimples overnight on multiple occasions, and it had absolutely no effect. I would not purchase it again. — 3 years, 8 months ago
