Photo finish foundation
Good primer. Makes makeup glide on. They finally changed the packaging so it's better. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 3 people said helpful

Photo Finish Was a Flop!
Looking good is getting easier all the time! I do get very frustrated with the mind-boggling number of products available because I have to fight the urge to buy; I do research my purchases, most especially when they are pricey. The seductive hype that comes in the form of continual print and media advertisements is hard to fight (look at how Maybelline's campaign for "Stiletto Mascara" made you think your glossy lashes would be lengthened so as to touch the ceiling!). Ultimately, though, you can find an item to correct and/or conceal whatever beauty problem(s) you have. When I was a teenager and young adult and wanted to look good for a special occasions, I would prep my face with a commercial or homemade oatmeal mask. After cleansing, I would blot a washcloth full of ice cubes over my skin briefly to shrink pores, de-puff my eyes, and give me a radiant glow. It worked! Now there is a plethora of foundation primers which do the same job and then some. They work at everything from disguising pores and fine lines and creases to helping foundation adhere to skin for long hours and through tough conditions (heat, humidity, etc.). I didn't research Smashbox's "Photo Finish Foundation Primer" (for shame, I now realize). I had heard through my friends that this was the best product to hit the market since proverbial sliced bread. I paid $36.00 for this without a second thought. My skin would be flawless and porcelain-like. NOT SO! The texture was heavy and mask-like. It was a hindrance to the application of foundation, not a help. That is mainly because of the large amount of silicone included which fills in furrows. I gave it away and turned to other varieties; Smashbox's much-applauded product did nothing for me but subtract from my budget. Since then, I have been pleased to learn that Smashbox has also added versions in "Light" (for oily and blemish-prone skin), "Hydrating" (additional moisturizers give a cool feel while adding moisture), "Correcting" (to balance undertones), and "Luminizing" (for all-over shimmer). I still wouldn't buy another version. Fool me twice, shame on me! — 2 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful

Not so sure about this one!
It's tooooo smoothe. I agree that it does make your liquid foundation slide all over the place. I haven't tried it with mineral makeup yet but I'm willing to try it since I still have a full bottle of it. I just believe it's not worth the money. — 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 7 of 9 people said helpful

Very disappointing
It didn't seem to help keep my oily skin matte, and it even seemed to cause my face to break out all over! I am very disappointed because there are so many great reviews, but I think the silicone-based primers just won't work for my skin-type. I do NOT have sensitive skin at all and was really surprised to see the dozens and dozens of little zits everywhere. I would recommend TRYING this product out if you are acne prone, even if you're not sensitive. — 4 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 11 of 13 people said helpful

Love this primer!
I've never used primers much because I didn't think they did much good but I was really impressed with this product when I first tired it. It went on so smoothly, it seemed to cover blemishes and even out my skin tone and hide the natural red in my face. When I applied foundation it went on much more smoothly, I used less of it and my face seemed to have much better coverage than normal. I would absolutely continue to buy this product and I highly recommend it! — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 8 people said helpful

I wish I could use it.....
This primer creates a soft, silky texture. It does contain Silocone though. Which I am (apparently) allergic to. After I used the primer, tiny bumps came up ALL OVER my face. Forehead, cheeks, chin, you name it. I looked up effects of silicone and it said if you are allergic to it, it will give you small bumps on your face that itch and go away as soon as you stop using the product. This primer might be good, but for anyne tht has not tried it, DONT! If you are allergic to it, you will be so dissapointed you bought it because it is VERY EXPENSIVE! — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 6 people said helpful

Not sold on this
Picked up a sample size of this after hearing great things. I have yet to use many primers, since my skin is more dry than oily. I have put this on only on days when I am wearing full foundation and know I have a long day ahead. The texture is a bit odd to put on. It's not bad, I am just not accustomed to it because I don't have any other products with that silicone consistency. I really don't notice much of a difference when I apply this under my Chanel Vitalumiere foundation. The places I tend to get oily (t-zone) still get a bit shiny by mid-day. I think I'd like to try a lotion primer next and compare the two. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

original primer
This was the first primer I had ever heard about and/or used. This formula goes on smoothly and feels like silk on the skin. My foundation does go on smoothly after using this. It would be nice to have an spf in it. I believe some of their later formulations do which is an added bonus. It feels good on my combination skin. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Good & Bad
I have been using Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer and bareMinerals Prime Time, but I wanted to try this for myself to see if the buzz surrounding this primer is worth it. I purchased their "To Go" size. The first thing I noticed was this is colorless, while Laura Mercier is white. The texture is thicker. When I squeeze, a blob comes out. What I like about this primer is that it doe make a smooth and velvety surface. My mineral powder foundation goes on better. Okay, I also must admit, this Smashbox primer gives more matte finish. Unfortunately, it seems to clog my pores, and that's no-no for me since I have acne prone skin. Also, I cannot say that my foundation stays longer. Overall, I like the texture and the results of Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer and bareMinerals Prime Time better. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 7 of 8 people said helpful

Not Worth It!
If you like this product you should try out Monistat Chaffing gel. It is made from the exact same ingredients. My friend has this primer and I tried it and loved it but it is so over priced! At Walmart you can get the chaffing gel for $7 and you get like double the amount of product! Read the ingredients for yourself and save some money! Neither of these products have ever clogged my pores and they both make my make up look smooth & flawless. Once you use primers you will never go back — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 7 people said helpful
