The effect of this specialized loose powder is so subtle, I can see why they called it a "secret." The minute brightening power comes from shimmery mica particles mixed with a base of white/lightly tinted talc and silica. Effects are so faint, application may seem unnecessary; but the powder can help set concealer and prevent mascara smudges under eyes. Soft and finely milled, the product is unscented and surprisingly non-drying. (Tip: When opening, gently pull the sticker from the sifter to avoid making a mess.)

    The ULTIMATE Powder

    I use this on my entire face. It's the perfect finishing powder. I use it as an eyeshadow to give my lids a perfect finish. I dab it on blemishes/spots with my finger to completely erase imperfections. I dust it on my lips to set lipliner before applying lipstick/gloss. It works wonders under the eyes without caking. ...I don't even wear foundation anymore! I wish it came in a bigger jar. Seriously girls, you won't believe you lived this long without it.     great for setting makeup around the eyes

    This product is great for preventing concealer from creasing and keeping mascara from smudging. I put it on after concealer and before eyemakeup and mascara. It helps blend and brighten, without darkening the way other yellow toned setting powders do to concealer.And its like air- blurs fine lines instead of accentuating th...em.     I was surprised that this didn't get a higher rating. The powder is so fine you can't see it on your face. I switched to this from BE Mineral Veil because I thought it was much better. April 28, 2009, 4:03 am

    After having seen Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder touted all over the place, I decided to try it for myself. I got it in shade 2, which is supposedly best for medium to dark skintones. It still looks like an almost white translucent powder to me, which has a bit of luminescence to it. I applied my normal conceale...r first, then dusted a tiny bit of Secret Brightening Powder over it. Well, it works. It definitely brightens the look of dark undereye circle. This isn't really a concealer - it's just used to add some luminescence, which makes the skin appear lighter. I also have applied this over YSL Touche Eclat and it works wonders on a casual day, when I don't want to wear concealer or heavy foundation. Remember to be very light on your application - if you apply too much, you'll wind up with the reverse-raccoon look! August 15, 2008, 1:04 pm

    Can't Live Without It! FABULOUS!!!

    This is the PERFECT finishing powder! I have extremely oily skin and no other powder has provided me with such beautiful coverage and a perfectly matte finish! I have tried tons of face powders and none can compare to this! I will definitely be a lifelong customer and I HIGHLY recommend this to others! : ) May 25, 2008, 12:24 pm

    One way to avoid the mess ...

    If you only pull back the seal sticker to expose 2-3 holes then it is not such a mess. You can tap out what you need into the cap. I tried this for several days and looked in the mirror several times a day to see if this product was making a difference... nothing. Returned it. October 6, 2009, 1:13 pm

    Great product used sparingly

    I use this under my eyes to set concealer, under eye liners/shadows, etc. You don't need much -- a lighter hand is the key. In the course of a day, everything I put under my eyes seemed to "bleed" and I develop raccoon eyes. Secret Brightening Powder prevents that from happening. Only thing I don't like is th...e container . . . I travel and when I open the container at my destination (after the suitcase had probably been turned and tossed upside down in transit), much of the product had come out of the shaker lid (and I had to spend time trying to push the product back through the holes into the container). Needs some sort of stopper to keep excess product from coming through the shaker holes. October 19, 2008, 8:20 am

    Use a fluffy brush and just take the dust from the lid to sweep a little over where your eyes appear dark. amount is key here.. It will set your eye concealer and give a lift to the eye area looking more awake! July 28, 2008, 11:41 pm
