Padma Lakshmi Has Healthy Pregnancy and Baby Despite Complications

"Padma is very happy," a source close to the "Top Chef" judge told "People.com". "She's wanted to be a mom for a long time. She was very relieved and happy when she got pregnant."

The star, pictured here, suffers from endometriosis, a condition that can often lead to infertility, and the pregnancy seems to have been a welcome surprise, though she has refused to identify the father of the child.

Lakshmi, who had gorgeous glowing skin throughout her pregnancy, appeared on the cover of "Page Six Magazine" in December wearing nothing but jewelry and gold sandals.

In a revealing interview she discussed her painful breakup from Salman Rushdie in 2007 and her new body.

She told the magazine that she had gained weight quickly, because she was too tired to exercise.

"You hope that with age, what you pay for in gravity, you gain in gravitas," the 39-year-old said.
