  • How to Have Beautiful Hair, Skin and Makeup When It's Ugly Outside

  • I don't know about you, but when the mercury starts to dip below, say 60 degrees, my body starts to fall apart -- my skin dries out, my lips crack, my hair gets brittle -- and, well, I'm just a total babe during the winter months. Not.

  • But having just seen pictures of Team USA 2010 skier/snowboarder Lindsay Vonn rocking some super-bitsy bikinis in the new Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, I'm beginning to think that there must be some ways to combat the ugliness that frigid conditions can wreak.

  • And, whaddaya know, I was right (alert the media)! Vonn, who who's hoping her recently injured shin won't interfere with her quest for gold and her fellow Olympic hopefuls, ice skater Tanith Belbin and speed skater Allison Baver, as well as retired gold-medalist bobsledder Vonetta Flower do know a thing about staving off the elements and they've shared their go-to beauty products with TotalBeauty.com, check 'em out below.

  • 1. First out of the gate are the Venus Embrace razor, $12.99, and Gilette Satin Care Shave Gel, $3.29, it seems that shaving, since it exfoliates the skin will help to keep your legs smooth and soft!

  • 2. When combating the cold outside and moisture-zapping heaters inside, your skin needs thick layers of moisture to protect it. Belbin uses a body wash rich with built-in lotion or conditioning oils like Olay Body Wash with Body Butter Ribbons, $6.99,

  • which can help seal in the hydrating effects of your shower. For added protection, pat off excess water with a towel, and before you leave the steamy shower, massage in a vitamin-E-packed lotion. See what Vonn's fave moisturizer is here.

  • 3. If, like me, your underarms aren't very high on your "notice me" radar, you'll be surprised by this next tip. Turns out that pits have winter woes of their own. To keep them free of itchy bumps, unsightly ingrown hairs and pesky dead skin, exfoliate with a loofah or body scrub after shaving, then apply a conditioning deodorant, like this one, that really lasts.

  • 4. It's important to remember that just because it's winter, it doesn't mean you can't get a sunburn. Your face is exposed to countless volatile elements, from UV rays to smog and cigarette smoke, every single day. Combine that with too few glasses of water and a couple of hot toddies and you have one parched landscape that's just waiting to wrinkle. See the moisturizer the athletes turn to here.

  • • Want to know what other products these Olympic hopefuls -- and we mere mortals -- shouldn't brave winter without? See 'em here.

  • • Then, follow expert tips on getting -- and keeping -- silky smooth skin this winter season.

  • • Don't ignore your tootsies just 'cause it's winter! Learn how to give yourself a salon-worthy pedicure from the comfort (and warmth) of your own home.
