When M.A.C. announced that it would be releasing a Selena Quintanilla collection, all hell broke loose. Launched September 30, 2016, it was touted as the largest launch in the history of the company — even beating other celeb launches from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Fans stood in line for hours and all 14 pieces of the Selena Makeup Collection were snapped up in minutes.
You could say it was a legend waiting to happen. A year prior to the launch, Selena fans started a petition begging M.A.C. to commemorate the late Tejano singer with a makeup collection. Soon after, the company reached out to Quintanilla family. So when the much-awaited collection finally arrived, it's no wonder that it was sold out in a day! With such demand, M.A.C. re-released the makeup collection two months later, on December 28, 2016.
