The latte makeup trend and style draws its inspiration from the creamy hues and warm undertones of our beloved morning latte. Think soft beige and caramel tones for a radiant, sun-kissed glow that exudes confidence and approachability. Embracing multiple shades of brown, this makeup trend has been catapulted into our net-verses by celebs, influencers, and the proverbial girl next door. It has become a go-to choice for those seeking a smart, light, and mature yet friendly appearance. And — sexy. The nude and all-brown makeup trend has been around, on and off, for hundreds of years, in various cultures, too. But sticking to recent history and speaking of rebirths of trends, it was in the 90s that the earth-toned makeup trend exploded (um, a brown lip liner, anyone?). Nude brown makeup continued to gain momentum alongside Kevyn Aucoin's own revolutionary contouring work on the iconic supermodels of the time. These two makeup styles emphasized one another's contribution to elevating facial beauty. The explosion was spectacular, especially considering the vastly different makeup trends of the decade before. This was the opposite of whatever the 80s were.

Fast forward to the 2010s, the trend re-emerges and evolves in a form of a worldwide contouring craze. The more notable our shapeshift (well-blended, of course), aka the more unrecognizable we were, the better. Well, it's 2023 now, and we are actually into many different styles, and what's left of our freedoms of choice, and lately the choices have been movements and statements; showing up in the world more vulnerably, authentically, naturally, be it by way of how, or if, we wear makeup, or by way of living more mindfully; or even by way of not removing female underarm hair. The latte makeup trend fits right in, as it keeps the contour and nude colors but softens them up, stripping away what's not true; not concealing your particular features, but rather providing all-over warmth and sophistication to how you look.
