All our skincare is about vanity. Yes, there is a certain element of skin health and tending to skin conditions (for some more than others), but the OCD-like pleasure of a skincare routine, K-beauty or bespoke, enjoying the feel, the enhanced features, the sudden blood rush as we massage in our carefully researched and picked out products — we love everything about it, especially as we come to see the changes for the better, subtle or big. Technology enhanced everybody's lives in countless ways, so it was only a matter of time before it would offer its services to a market that's always ready to invest in what promises even more results, even better results, even quicker results: the skincare obsessee.

Skin tech has been around for a while, but thankfully, not all of it survived the underestimated beauty aficionados, with some devices collapsing spectacularly, and others standing the test of time (and user-ruthlessness). That's not a small achievement. What remained, following both the openness and scrutiny of users, was improved through user-experience analysis. With so many skincare tools and devices out there, from sonic cleansers that leave us with the purest-feeling skin to date, to LED masks fighting blemishes, or signs of aging and other pulsating, vibrating, steam- and light-producing qualities, we thought we'd show you a selection of skincare devices, for various needs and desires, that are affordable, but could prove to be a good long-term investment — and can provide you with the experience of the difference they make, compared to not using them. Just like with our regular skincare, a cleansing device, a sculpting tool, a microdermabrasion roller, or other skin gadgets, skin tech should be used consistently (per manufacturer's instructions), and per skin's needs.
