What the experts say: "Braids are generally great for exercising," says Lisa Hirsch, founder and CEO of The Studio MDR in Venice, Calif. "Looser, messy braids can be super cute for the beach, but can easily come undone during a workout, so be sure to opt for a tighter style to keep hair out of your face."
The look: Braided ponytail
1. Gather your hair back into a ponytail at the back of your crown.
2. Take a small section of your hair and braid it down through to the ends. Wrap that section around the base of the elastic, securing with a bobby pin.
3. Braid the remaining section of your ponytail ends down through to the ends. Be sure to keep the braid tight as you go.
4. Finish by securing the ends with an elastic like Goody Slide-Proof Black Elastics.
