Puffy eyesWeird Tip: Hemorrhoid cream [applied] under the eyes reduces puffiness. -- Tori via Facebook
Expert answer: This old-school trick you likely heard from your mother actually does work, says Dr. Sadick. It "may shrink them," as it is made with "anti-inflammatory agents," which can temporarily reduce puff.
Olive oil does make your hair feel really soft, but I found that I had to be kind of generous with it and leave it on a bit longer than they mentioned.
Haha. Urine? I wanna know who has actually tried that. I hope they are using their own urine! ill stick to some of the other tips; but definitely not the urine one.
I agree with everyone the urine one is nasty. Pee belongs in the toilet and I'm gonna keep it the way. These beauty tips are great. I have never heard of the hot sauce one before. I would like to try some of the mayonnaise. I would probably buy the hair mayonnaise from sally beauty supply. I like the real mayonnaise for my food.
I've done the toothpaste, olive oil, and the Preparation-H. In my teens, I also tried the mayo to the hair; it was just as nasty as one might imagine. I have never, however, been desperate enough to think of putting wee on my face.
It's entertaining some of the things people think of... Also, even though they said the tea bath works for a sunburn--Noxema is easier and also works. Slather it on (the old school white cream type), let it sit for 2-5 minutes, then rinse of in the shower. I burn easily and this works for me EVERY TIME.
Some of these I knew and I think they are great, but urine on your face? Even if did work, even if it took 20 years off of my appearance, I would NEVER do it! Disgusting!
all these are great and weird lol. the only one i really think is weird is the 'pee' one where it says use it as a astringent to clear up acne. thats disgusting and i hope NOONE tries that lol. but all in all, good tips :)
Great advice, although I disagree with the potato slices !
During a time in my life, when my skin was very oily. I sliced a potato, placed it on my face, and my skin had a similar look as if I used toner.
Also the article didn't mention, how potato juice can lighten blemished skin over time !
Yes, this is an old-fashioned favorite before all the hair moisturzers came out and it was all women had to use. The "natural" oils worked beautifully. I used pure olive oil to cleanse my face and photos of me that my daughters show their friends, they ask which of their sisters I am ! I am 51 years old ! they are in their 20's .Nature works best.
I have used the olive oil and the toothpaste and have gave me great result.. I will try the lemon juice with a friend someday.. oh and I used to hydrate my hair with avocado and aloe vera (home made9 and it really nourished my hair...
Olive oil does make a great moisturizer, and conditioning treatment but I've also heard it isn't good for colored hair - that it can make your dye job wash out or fade away faster. Anybody know if that is true or not?
Urine as an astringent? What were they thinking??? But I've heard of most of the ones that work. (Interestingly, I hadn't heard of any of the ones that don't!)
the vineagar deal does work...last year on one of the first warm sunny days we had i over tanned outside and got burned so badly it hurt to wear jeans ...anything with thick stitching i was reduced to wearing leggins for days.....and i did not want to let all my suffering go wasted ...since im so pale id eventually peel...my tan goes sunburn first time of the year tan and peels off and then im white as he*l again...so i bathed and put some vineagar in the bath and then put equal parts water and vineagar in a zip lock bag and lightly but firmly dabbed the soaked rag all over my body....and sure enough i did not peel at all thet time or for the entire summer for that matter and it was a quite severe sunburn.. i also got super tan after a short while ......so that proves it works....also take some aspirin...and if youre really in pain you can buy dermaplast spray at a drug store....it is like a spray for burns cuts etc....it is a disinfectant, antibiotic, and soothes away/numbs any pain you may have from a sunburn...i had one sunburn before so bad i had to resort to that as a treatment too!
White vinegar is the very best and cheapest and it DOES work and when it dries, no vinegar smell...... just clean. Pat it on after a cool bath as soon as you get out of the sun.
You can also dab Visine on pimples to reduce redness. In a pinch, hand lotion can tame frizzy hair and dry ends. I also use baby powder to absorb excess oil at the roots.
wholeheartedly agree....Urine belongs in the toilet gals, mayo in your salad, and lemon juice in ur lemonade glass
enough already on the DIY cosmetic fixes, you'll end up hurting yourself or lookin like you've been burned
I've heard of some of these things, but one thing I have heard about toothpaste is that you should not use it on a pimple because sodium floride can burn your skin. And I think olive oil makes a great conditioning hair mask!
I remember this comment from facebook. That urine thing is completely disgusting and I know someone who actually did that and tried to get me to do to it too. DID NOT HAPPEN. I'm sorry there has be some point where you have to stop and let your common sense kick in and say, "There is NO way that will actully work". I heard the mayo thing for your hair does work, but with all the products that you can use that are actually made for your hair, why not use them???
Toothpaste always irritates my skin...I have to try really hard to find one that doesn't make me break out around my mouth. I can't imagine using one on my face!
I actually like how mayo works on my long hair, makes it soft, shiny and hydrated. The main trick is washing it out really well, then there's no smell or greasiness
Let's see...I've tried the mayonnaise thing and it hasn't gone well for me,besides the disgusting stench of it in my hair, the mayo greased it sooo much I had to wash my hair more frequently during 2 weeks until it regained a normal appearance and smell.
As far as the lemon on the hair thing goes...NO! This is a BIG no! Sorry for the caps...I was yelling actually almost 8 years ao when I was stupid enough to try this and it ruined my hair sooooo bad that I had to wear a short bob for a few years until my hair was strong enough to be longer. Hate lemon acid! And if you do it like me and go with the sun exposure...You will cry, believe me!
The toothpaste thing is really efficient and I don't need or want to buy anything to replace my good old toothpaste:) This one is good!
I'm lucky I haven't been sunburned in over a decade, but that's really interesting about the tea. I ought to tell that to some of my fair-skin friends.
The tea sounds great, but when I was in Florida one year I fell asleep on the beach and being very fair I got sun poisoning! 2 hours on the beach even with sun screen 50! The Docs. at the Hospital said a good home cure is to put about a cup of white vinegar in your bath to pull out the sting, and to soak gaze strips in vitamin D milk and place them flat on a cookie sheet in your freezer untell really cold ,but not frozen and place them wherever you are burned. It put's the moisture back in your skin. It works wonders! (If you do have sun poisoning you do need to go to the Hospital they might need to keep you for a few days. )I think the tea might smell better though!
My mother gave me a mayo treatment when i was a child, and i must say it damaged me for life. I wouldn't eat mayo for over a decade, i hated the smell so much and i was so disgusted!
