Seriously guys? The only pictures that were taken in the 80s were of Sarah and Jennifer. The rest were taken in the 2000s. And even the 80's hairstyles in the 80's are pretty dang ugly.

Even though I think mullets are super ugly, I actually think Gwen Stefani pulled off the mullet look and so did Pink with the mohawk, it fits her personal style. And perms... OMG, true story, my mom came home with a perm one day when I was four and I literally was crying like someone died because it was so ugly. Not only did she get a perm, but she cut her hair really short as well so it looked liked an Afro. Imagine that, an Asian lady with an Afro perm, not cute.

Remind me why we're making fun of people who had 80s hair IN THE 80s?? Also agree with previous commenter re: natural curls. Nothing wrong with going natural and the big hair was trendy then! Don't we normally praise the starts who stay on top of the current trends?

Actually, I'm pretty sure all the women you showed with perms are natural curly girls. You're right. I don't know what they were thinking rocking they're god-given natural head of hair. Thanks for making us curly girls and our "frizzy layers" feel so wonderful. Shame on you!

oh my! Did they all check in the mirror at least once after this hair do I'm sorry hair don't. Tyra nails it either it is the best or the worst :-) What is with the colors and stripes and mohawk that makes them to try it. But I do have seen much worst hairdos than these.

Really?! These are the WORST? I've seen far worse out there on celebrities! Joss Stone & Christina Aguilera's hair colors are fine. The black and blond is in right now big time and a few strands of bright colors to contrast against a darker natural hair color looks awesome. Plus putting hairstyles from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s doesn't make much since considering those hairstyles that were mentioned were THE STYLE for that decade.

LOL this was hysterical!!! I agree, the Mullet is definitely the WORST of all the looks shown. Sarah Jessica Parker's do' made me laugh soo hard because after be an avid Sex and The City watcher, to see her hair all 80's out was funny. Jennifer Gray's hair was the only one I kind of liked. "Nobody puts Baby in the corner!" She wore that perm well, unlike Mariah Carey...yuck! That to me, besides SJP, was the worst version of the perm ever!! I'm soo glad that I was too young to perm my hair or worse, get a Mullet cut!! Thank you Mom!! I am guilty of crimping though. I used to do it in Middle School and thought it looked soooo cool....Was I ever wrong!! Seeing those pics reminded me how ridiculous my hair must have looked!!

It's not necessary the height of coiffure; this is a sloppy up-do. Very poorly executed because most of today's younger stylists R not trained for this type of work. They have to take special coursework; and even then, they just don't get it. Hair styling profession needs to upgrade it's standards & education. It would be wonderful if their schools had decent librarys and archives to show students history of hair & fashion, how it all intertwines. Most beauty schools just teach bare basics to help students pass their state boards. Granted, talent for this is inherent and many will never go beyond very mediocre work. I have a hunch, Kim Cattrall would have loved a big beautiful, elegant 'do. Instead she got a barely passable updo that was messy. I'll bet her stylist tried the tired old chestnut of telling her she needed to be slightly messy to be cool; to look more "today".

Amy is such a huge talent. She is not blessed with conventional beauty; but I'll bet a good hair stylist & make-up artist could do wonders. Because Amy likes to project a "nasty-girl/funk" vibe; I look at that fright-wig and think of horrid hygenic problems. Who would want to get anywhere near that toxic heap? Her appearance is a reflection of bad self-esteem and a sad distraction from one of the most beautiful voices since Ella Fitzgerald. When is Amy going to show herself some respect? Whomever is enabling this mess, should be whipped & chained.

Agree. I hate perms on just about everybody. They look just horrid, even the prettiest woman can look bad, as they are messy and likely to overwhelm most faces. You have to have eyes like Liz Taylor with a bone structure like Grace Kelly; to even bear a slight trace of beauty!

I have been coloring my hair for over 30 yrs. All kinds of color jobs. On a few occassions I have had reactions to the chemicals, it happens. On one occassion I thought my head had been set aflame! We just immediately rinsed as much of the product out as possible. Bear in mind that my stylist was a personal friend who is a noted colorist. He actually taught and demonstrated color for known brands. These things happen. Nicole has also been pregnant, 2x, recently. Safety is always more important than getting the right shade or result. Otherwise, we wind up bald with damaged skin in a bad area. Scalp infections are nothing to take lightly.

My cousin had her hair cut like this when we were kids back in the late 60's early 70's and it was called a "Pixie"...to me the "mullet" is more dramatic, not as shaggy as this....I think this looks awesome and fun, fresh and young looking on her!

Some of these are icons and set the trends- they don't look bad as they started the style, Gwen Staffani always passes everything off anyway. Angelina Joile and Tyra Banks just look cute, Fergie is her hairstyle- its how most people recognise her, through her quiffs and plaits. And Hillary Duff didn't look bad!

Well, I personally find that Joss Stone's hairstyle suits her personality, even though it's obviously not going to look flattering on just about anyone. The red highlights seem okay, though I think Joss will look better if they were in one or two shades lighter, or probably a colour that will match the purple tones at her roots. Still, not really a bad look overall. Just that you gotta have the attitude to carry it well! Or else, wiser to just give it a pass. =)
