This is a very poor writer. Not only does this article present a very curt sense of humor, it also overemphasizes unnecessary teases at an array of great towns and cities. Being a native Houstonian myself, I've grown up to learn how to manage with the weather, but this author must be dense if he or she assumes that a lack of salons or humid weather results a city of unsightly hairs. It would be different if this author assessed these matters as a means to "qualify" the facts with actual advice -which, I assume was attempted, however through the poorest techniques was it executed- yet with the author's addition of whatever he or she supposedly thought to be "witty" was, in fact, jeering at other small towns and their culture. The remarks of "wisdom" were not typed to exist in their own ineffective one-liner solitare, but were made to "pack a punch," because according to this author, due to a lack of yellowpage listed hair stylists, it will be "difficult to find hip style" in that area because it is the " top destination for retirees." And who cares?! Is the author suggesting that older people are incapable of creating wonderful NEW things? So yup, tell the producers to cancel James Cameron's next film 'cause 'up, I think he's graying. Oh and Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood should just give all that movie making a rest too. What a disappointment. But how bet we just disregard all of that because this biased columnist has still yet to acknowledge different hair types. Being of African American heritage, my hair reacts differently others, and this can be said for Latinos, Biracials, Asians, Caucasians, curly headed, straight hair, wavy, relaxed, and natural alike- BECAUSE WE'RE ALL DIFFRENT- and there is nothing wrong with that. This piece of evidence just exemplifies this writer's sense of inconsideration. I mean really, what publishing company or online website would want a columnist that advises people to "LEAVE Las Vegas" and "get [their] hair cut by the neighbor's kid"? I have come away from reading this article, not only disgusted at this lack of rhetorical taste but also this unprofessional, facetious, conceited critique of an uneducated online columnist who has most surely written a solid piece of nothing that -through my reading- has wasted moments of my life that I will never get back. What a waste of online published space. And I just turned 18 this month.

Phoenix is not a bad hair city! I live there and my hair looks the best when I'm home. There's no humidity so it doesn't get frizzy and contrary to what they say, it doesn't get dried out. Someone needs to do their research. Where are Honolulu and Miami? Humidity is your hair's worst enemy!

wow, of course my home of pittsburgh PA made it on here. i will admit that my hair can get pretty frizzy and i have to do a lot to it, but its not polluted here. that was a long long long time ago wehn we had all of the steel mills here, but most of them are gone. there's just about as much pollution here as there is anywhere else.

Eugene is not humid! It rains a lot, but is in no way humid. It gets super hot and dry in the summer, and very rainy and cold basically from october through may. In fact, whenever I travel I'm shocked by how muggy it is in every other state but Oregon! The only thing that ruins your hair is the rain and wind.

Whoever researched that Cincinnati only have eight hairstylists listed in the yellow pages does not do enough research. This is a large city. We are not in the back hills. Give me a break. I have family in Hawaii, so my trips there are frequent and I can tell you being half fillipino/hawaiian I have semi-thick,semi-wavy,semi-dry long hair and I have yet to have a good hair day while I'm visiting. On the other hand, I am only 2 hours from Vegas and am used to the dry whether. I may sweat to death while walking on the strip, but my hair stays in place. I frequent our California beaches and as soon as I hit anything past the O.C. it's frizz city...so I believe that if you live somewhere long enough you will adapt to having great hair no matter where you are! I think the article reference "only a handful" of stylist within a certain city pertains to getting a "haircut" and getting a "hairstyle". I wouldn't want to go to Joe the Barber or Jane fresh out of beauty school.

I lived in Phoenix for many years. It's true, it's dry air, hot weather, and hard water. I now live in Corpus Christi but the humidity has not caused my hair to be frizzy at all. I guess you have to have curly hair to begin with!!

Ummm, lets just say Hawaii is totally missing from this, we may not have pollution but we are super close to the equator and have extreme humidity. We also cant spend every day at the beach. Trying to look nice and commute in this weather in office appropriate clothing is seriously a challenge. Luckly, I get a straight perm either wise my normally wavy hair would be a hot mess.

Imagine my surprise when I clicked the 'next' button to show Corpus Christi Tx as the No.1 Worst Hair Cities. I currently live in Corpus Christi, and while this may or may not be true regarding humidity, the statement that we only have a handful of hair salons is completely false. This statement alone makes discredits the entire article. Our yellow pages includes 11 whole pages of beauty salons when including listings and advertisements. This article was simply written in a way to hide its true agenda - HAIR PRODUCT ADVERTISING. This article stinks.

Pittsburgh has short-term particle pollution issues, which relate to asthma. However, compared to the other cities on your list Pittsburgh does not have the highest overall pollution levels. Get your facts right before making sweeping generalizations. When you make false statements like that you take away any credibility you might have in your other stories. I have to disagree with you about Pittsburgh being very polluted. It used to have alot of steel mills which created the pollution, but since they have mostly all shut down, the only problems we have here is that we live in the city of the "three rivers" which is very humid. Other than that, you are very wrong about the pollution. That was like 30 years ago. Where did you get your information?

regarding the pittsburgh as one of the most polluted cities, the air testing was done so poorly it was almost classifies as junk science. The monitors placed in Allegheny County were positioned immediately downwind (literally meters) from one of the few large factories remaining in the county...of course you're going to get awful results. I currently live in Bucks County PA, supposedly an idyllic, historic spot in America, north of Fhilthadelphia...truly a polluted city...and I can tell you the people with allergies, asthma, and other breathing problems, far outweighs those in Pittsburgh. Whenever I'm back in Pgh I actually notice how much cleaner and lighter the air feels compared to the east coast.

It is less polluted than many cities, and to call it the "pitts" is offensive and unnecessary in the context of your so-called researched list. There are fantastic salons and stylists in Pittsburgh, and many great heads of hair and styles. Haha, actually, I LIVE in Eugene, and have been for at least 3 years, and I must say, even though it rains plenty, the summers are dry, with the occasional humid day like any other town. I literally gasped when I saw it on there.
