Our Six-Week Eye Cream Expose
Photo evidence of how swanky brands stack up against drugstore gems when it comes to fighting wrinkles
Joanna, 20s
Left eye (appears right): Olay Regenerist Eye Derma-Pod Anti-Aging Triple Response System, $26.99.
Right eye (appears left): StriVectin-SD Eye Cream, $59
StriVectin-SD review: "This stuff is truly special. It came in a nice big tube (so you feel like you're getting great value for the lump of cash you are shelling out), and there was no overly strong fragrance. The best part is that people actually commented (yes, really) on the results, proving it truly did work. What more could you want in an eye cream?"
Olay review: "Whilst the pod applicator seemed hi-tech and made me feel a bit fancy, the first couple of times I broke one out I felt very environmentally guilty as it seemed like a total waste of packaging. The sponge applicator on the pod also felt a bit like sandpaper around my eyes, which wasn't a great sensation. The cream itself had a fairly strong fragrance. All in all it wasn't a terribly enjoyable experience."
Results: "My right eye looked noticeably more radiant than my left, which showed no visible results."

Disappointing as it seemed there was n difference in any of the products or if there was it was too slight. I agree that photos often dont reflect exactly due to differences so maybe thats part of the problem. Doesnt encourage running out to spend money on them

This should have been a double-blind test so that the reviewers didn't know which products they were using. Branding has a significant influence on our perception of products.

I didn't really see any differences. Maybe only slightly with the Lancome product.
