Beach-y hair like the Victoria's Secret models, anyone? This city has clean air, soft water, lots of salons and practically the same weather -- a nicely un-sweaty 77 degrees -- all year round. Come here and say "aloha" to gorgeous hair.

Ever since I was a little kid I have suffered with fine hair. I really hate it. It is hard for me to hold a curl and mousse does not really make a difference, but a good shampoo can make that difference. I found that with the Volume products from Shielo Haircare. I initially liked Shielos Volume Shampoo because it smells absolutely wonderful! Then I saw the price and I was sold. That is when I get the best results. I have tried other shampoos that are comparable to this one and they do not add up. I can honestly tell a difference with this shampoo. It is also great for little kids. Sometimes when I am out of my daughters shampoo I let her use this. Although it is not tear free it is four year old friendly. I will continue to purchase this in the future and would suggest it to others.

Any time I've visited LA from Phoenix, it's always made my hair harder to style. I'd like to see the difference over time and getting used to the switch from hard to soft water.

I moved to San Francisco more than a year ago and haven't had a good hair day since leaving Idaho. And if you look around, there aren't that many women that have "styles". Hair seems to be worn long and straight and most times in a pony tail. I also agree that it's difficult to find a good salon. Paying $200ish every 8 weeks and not having a good cut yet, makes me cranky!

I agree with the last 3 comments. San Francisco is not a good hair city in my opinion, but Honolulu definitely is! Hawaii has much softer water and just enough humidity to plump up my hair without frizz. In the Bay Area, my hair is so dry and flat. Shampoo lathers much easier in Honolulu and it is easier to hold a wave when you "scrunch" your hair. I'll take Honolulu over SF any day!

I've lived in San Francisco and Honolulu, and Honolulu definitely does wonders for my hair but SF does NOT! Hawaii's water is much softer than the Bay Area's, and the light humidity gives my more body and volume. In SF, my hair is flat and doesn't hold a wave because it is so dry.

SF is NOT a good hair city. I moved to SF from Albuquerque 1.5 years ago and my hair and skin look awful. Plus, I haven't been able to find a good salon. I would move back to Albuquerque in an instant if I could.

This article totally seems to be based on number of Salons! i've lived in Denver my whole life, and have never had issues with hard water, and there's always at least a breeze here, but it seems like its always windy. I love the lack of humidity!! Humidity makes my hair go crazy with frizz. I agree that this should have been written about the health and natural condition of hair.

Growing up in Anchorage, I always dreamed that anywhere else would give me more hair options. It took having my two daughters to move to other states to learn that we have a wonderful climate and water for hair. And over the years, we have gotten some excellent stylists! Wow! We made a list!

I moved to Los Angeles from Philadelphia six years ago. Since then, my hair and scalp has suffered from dryness. I'm sorry but L.A. has pollution and hard water, I can't for the life of me understand its placement on this list.

That San Diego is always sunny and pleasant is the biggest myth ever. It's actually hot, arid, and polluted. Both my skin and hair took a turn for the worse when I moved here six years ago.

this review seems like it was based on how many hair salons are in the area. Ever since I moved to LA from upstate NY, I've lost half of my hair due to the pollution and bad water quality. What I'd really like to know is the best places based on the health and natural condition of hair instead of some info based on hair enhanced by hairstylists and products!
