If you crave...chocolate You need: magnesium
Typically, we reach for chocolate when we're stressed or PMSing, and for good reason: "Chocolate is a powerful stimulant that can increase the flow of the feel-good neurochemicals, dopamine and serotonin, in the brain," says Metsovas. The only downside to eating a food that basically gives us a natural high is the inevitable crash when the dopamine leaves our system.
Instead of the quick fix, Metsovas recommends foods high in magnesium when we're stressed or hormonal, since the mineral may help with nerve health and hypertension. Try foods like nuts and seeds, fish, cucumber, and unrefined sea salt.
theory... but a lot of the replacement foods and nutrients are slow-working. let's admit that sometimes when we crave chocolate, it's CHOCOLATE that we want
I seem to be in the minority but I only found this mildly interesting, mainly I think because I don't go to a beauty site to get healthy eating tips....I go there to review and read about makeup, skin care and hair care. But, that's just me.
Drinking water! 99% of the time, if I want to eat something I know I shouldn't have, I just guzzle water until I don't feel that way anymore. It really works!
Pretty good info, though I have to say I'm probably the few percent who actually does go on a green and kale Bing. Lol I just made my veggie kale soup yesterday because I was craving t:-) he seasoning and nice garlicky comfort. I especially crave all kinds of salads often..perhaps it's because I do love the salt because I'm not a sweet tooth person at all. And I don't like chocolate..
i also find that excersizing keeps your mind off eating as i tend to get hungry as soon asd i get home from school because i am bored. but when i have cheerleading practice i dont seem to be hungry at all. also i would like to know what to eat when have a headache and am hungry but dont know what to eat to make me feel better.
