"For a heart shape face, you want to add height to elongate the face," says Smith. Mulligan's texture at the crown gives her balance, while her sides are kept flat to keep the face elongated. The short fringe draws major attention to her eyes and cheekbones. Also, since "heart shapes tend to have wide foreheads, the side-swept bangs help narrow her forehead." Michelle Williams is a beautiful woman, but this hairstyle just does not work for a movie star. She does not appear "glamorous", which is what we expect from stars. It's too much like the Mia Farrow style from the 60's. Very little you can do with it. Bangs and sides should be longer.

3 awful pixie cuts out of 14 styles of pixies and bobs. You've got to be kidding. Once again, there are no styles for people with short hair. A pixie cut is awful on anyone!!!

Thank you for at least including one ethnic woman in your pictures. Since a lot of ethnic women have short hair, I know those reading this article would be looking for examples. You might want to let people know in the title of this article that the cuts are for those with straight hair, not those of us with curly hair.

I love Pixie cuts! I have a pixie cut many times. There is nothing more beautiful then a strong and lovely woman that doesn't hide behind a lot of hair. It is an easy and great haircut to have! It is very empowering to not rely on hair for beauty! Bonus, a lot of times when your face is not weighed down with hair you look thinner and younger! This goes for any age!

Helpful if you are 20 or 30 something. I think that the tips were OK but for each generation there is a certain "look" right or wrong, it's what we learned what we consider a good look. Give these 20 & 30 somethings 20-30 years and see if their look has changed or if it's fitting with their generation.

I have always had long hair until I was in 7th grade and cut it shoulder length . It is now mid back lengthed and I never want to cut it ever again!!! Grow your hair out never cut it this short it significantly defines a woman and is one of our best features.

I think knowing what shape your face is, is half the battle. I also believe that cuts like the Pixie take an inherent confidence to pull off. My favorite cut among these and for me personally, is Katherine Heigl's bob. I have a round face and this is one of my favorite styles for myself as well!

I had a pixie in highschool and everyone told me I looked great nut now that I am 25 I really cannot see myself with that cut,it is not versatile believe me and you will miss the feeling of soft hair around your face...It has nothing to do with femininity,it cannot take any but it does seem restricting if you like to experiment and change your appearance. Not to mention that horrid stage of growing your hair aaaaaargh!

here's my advice.. don't consider face shape alone, consider face features. wide, flat, bulb noses WITH a flat to no cheeks (general an undefined face/ structureless) should stay away from short hair, you'll look like a boy. trust me I have an undefined face... and i've tried short short hair.
