Eyelash perms Cost: $45 Lasts: 2 months Who should do it: Anyone with hard-to-curl lashes.
Why you should get it: I recommend this treatment to anybody who, like me, dreads curling their lashes every day. The Japanese eyelash curl is like a perm for your eyelashes -- you'll never have to pinch your eyelids with a curler ever again! (Or at least for two months.) This is also a cost-effective beauty treatment, and shaves precious minutes off your morning get-ready routine.
What you won't like: Since your lashes are always curled, they can get in the way when you're applying eyeliner -- but I got used to it. A similar semi-perm treatment that I do not recommend is the LashDip, which curls your lashes and gives you the look of wearing mascara for weeks.
"While it's supposed to be wash-and-go, you can't actually wash your face," says Lola Gonzalez Marra, senior designer at Total Beauty. "You have to avoid your eye area so that the lashes don't stick together and clump." Plus, Lola's upper and lower lashes repeatedly got stuck together, which required her to physically peel her eyes open. No matter the beauty benefit, temporary blindness isn't worth it.
Wow!!! I have always wanted to get a gel manicure. I'm going to try it out & I have always wanted to dye my hair but was afraid of damages. Now I know to use the sem-permanent dye
I have had my hair done with the Japenese straightening system for 3 1/2 years now. Touch ups every year. I once had kinky, curly, unruly hair. The treatment changed my life. The headache of the tangles, gels, mousses and gels are gone. I also just started doing lash extensions. LOVE them. I have had them since June 12', and I can't live without them now! Two huge time savers. I can now actually spend the day not worrying about myself. And spend it with my two babies :)
I had my hair chemically straightened in Vietnam and while it was hard on my hair, it was so nice just being able to let my hair air dry and have it be pin straight! Not having to flat iron and blow dry my hair was really convenient and also good for my hair. Eyelash extensions seem expensive and like they'd look bad once they started wearing off... Revitalash has made my lashes crazy long, lasts longer and is less expensive.
Fillers are great at first, but you can become a slave to them. You also have to use the right one for the job. Tattooed makeup scares me, even as a person with permanent body art. It's your face, and what if they mess up?
interesting ideas. DEFINITELY dont think ANOYONE should get their make up tatooed onto their face. not a good idea at all. if it goes wrong you are stuck with it forever. plus it looks fake and everyone who sees you will know that you got it done.... just not a good idea at all. guys like the natural look better anyways.
Years ago I used to put in lash extensions- when they would grow out it was a drag to remove them. Make up tats..... I am a bit too scared but love the idea of waking up with filled in brows and a darker lash line.
This is a very interesting article, as I prefer long-term solutions. I've done lasik eye surgery and laser hair removal and thank goodness I haven't had to deal with any bad side effects or unpleasant results, however most of these ideas sound good at first but once I read all of the risks and consequences I don't think I would try any of them!
Awesome article. I would not try most of these personally; at least not now. I would only try the Japanese straightening, because I'm a bum when it comes to making my hair straight.
its really interesting to know the prices of these, my friend would love the straightening treatment (but not the price) very fun but most of them i wouild probably never ever get
This was super interesting: there are a lot of beauty procedures I've never heard of til now! I definitely agree with the advice on the one I've tried: gel manicures are awesome, but my nails do not like it so I try to limit them.
Some of these were a bit scary, like the eyelid surgery and the eyelash perm. I know way too many people who've gotten permanent eye liner and the color changed pretty quickly (black becoming purple and needing to be re-done over and over again). I do like the way the permanent eyebrows look though, especially since I always wear sunscreen. It's a good idea and something I might consider doing.
I saw about the double eyelid surgery a while back and that scares the crap out of me. I don't have double eyelids fortunately, but it's just scary to me with any procedure near the eye.
Very interesting article. Thanks! I like the idea of fillers and semi-permanent hair color. I don't get why someone would want manicure that lasts more than a week- nails grow! And then that bare nail near cuticle doesn't look any better than polish wearing off... I guess if your nails don't grow? ))
