7 Semi-Permanent Beauty Treatments Worth Paying For
Some semi-permanent treatments are so good they're recession-proof -- and others don't live up to the hype. Find out which ones can change your beauty routine for the better
I am incredibly lazy when it comes to my beauty routine.
I know this may come as a shock considering I'm a beauty editor. But I hate the mundane repetitiveness of curling my lashes every day, straightening my hair, and filling in my brows. So if a treatment promises to make my hair so silky-smooth straight that I won't have to touch a straightening iron for eight months, I'm game.
See the 7 best semi-permanent beauty treatments now.
Every time a new semi-permanent beauty treatment comes out that gets the Twitterverse chirping, I try it. But are all of these semi-permanent treatments the timesaving solutions for your own beauty woes? Hardly.
Take the Brazilian Blowout, for example. Like thousands of others who fell for the keratin treatment hype, our Executive Editor, Meghan Rabbitt, had high hopes that it would transform her frizzy, challengingly-curly hair into glossy waves. So she plonked down $300 and walked out of the salon with the hair of her dreams … only to be left frustrated (and more broke) when her never-been-colored hair went back to its curly, frizzy self after two weeks.
On the other hand, I'm devoted to the Japanese straightening treatment, which is about the same price as the Brazilian Blowout but offers longer-lasting, straighter results. For me, it works -- and it not only saves me time, but it also saves me cash, considering I never have to pay for professional blowouts.
To figure out which semi-permanent treatments are worth the splurge, I tried the ones that are getting the most buzz right now. (And if a treatment wasn't right for me, I talked to co-workers and friends who tried it.) See which top beauty treatments are truly life-changing -- or will at the least afford you an extra slap of the snooze button.
