It's impossible to predict every hairstyle and color that will go from Hollywood fad to full-on, mainstream trend. Did anyone really think Lauren Conrad's multi-colored hue or Katy Perry's hot-pink bob would have women everywhere filling their beauty-supply-store baskets with Manic Panic?

But top stylists do have something like a crystal ball when it comes to hair trends: They�re the ones who create the trends in the first place. They work on Fashion Week shows more than six months before the actual season, and then they recreate those runway looks on celebrity clients. In turn, the stars hit the red carpet and set the trends in motion among the masses.

Even if you aren't looking for the "it" cut or hottest color for your 2012 hairstyles, there are plenty of high-tech salon treatments, fresh-looking updos, and braiding techniques worth trying. I want to try the faux bob and one night highlights but I still like my bangs so will not be going wispy yet (maybe when I am ready to grow them out). Also maybe this article is old (seeing how it is almost November) but a lot of these styles have been out a while.

Meh. This was entertaining, but I guess I don't believe in following hair trends that closely. If something works with your face shape, hair type, etc. I think it's mostly ok to stick with that if you're happy with it. (That is to say--I don't care that they're saying pixie cuts are out. It fits my face and my personality so I'm keeping it!)

I like the ombre layers and the straight waves. The looks appear very simple and easy to do and I sleep with my hair in braids anyway to prevent tangles, I love that I can turn it into a style!

They could have picked a better picture for the layered bob, that woman's hair looks fried and horrible. As a natural curly head, I'm definitely not liking the "straight" curl idea. Just let curls be curls!

I wonder how many people follow trends with their hairstyle, rather than wearing a style that looks best on them. I guess if you want to stay current you need to make some changes. The important thing is to have a style that looks and feels good!
