For a while, before Meredith Viera was hired, it looked to me as if Natalie Morales was a possible replacement for Katie Couric. I'm thinking that if Ann Curry had stayed in the position that Natalie now fills, we would be watching Natalie with Matt instead of Savannah Guthrie.
The entertainment business is what it is. Looking fabulous no matter what it takes. I loved Ann for not liking to wear make-up when not on set. Her clothes expressed who she is (was). She is such an amazing newsperson and there were quite a few "famous personalilties" that only would let HER interview them. I'm with kleiman on her comment about Matt Lauer!! I quit watching Today because I just couldn't stand watching him anymore!! Or his EGO! I watch all the hottie's on GMA. The men and the woman!!!
Ann Curry is a beautiful, bright woman who has worked so hard to move up the ladder in a good ole boy's club. To be fired because of some gray hairs, wrinkles, etc. is absolutely disgraceful. I can name at least 10 male anchors who I find unattractive. What about firing Matt Lauer for being Bald? He certainly isn't the stud he once was so why not replace him with a younger version. Why doesn't FOX fire that idiot anchor, Greg Kelly, who makes obnoxious, stupid comments daily not to mention his immature behavior on air. Oh I forgot. He's the Police Commissioner's son and is untouchable. I hope these programs realize that their viewers, particularly women, are NOT stupid and will stop watching their programs.(at least I hope that's the case)
The treatment of Ann Curry is yet another example of the double standard in American business which continues to treat and pay women as if they are inferior to men.
