Taylor Chang-Babaian, Hair & Makeup Stylist:

Hi, my name is Taylor and I am going to show you the latest trend among fashionable hairstyles, which is a French braided bang. You're seeing this on all the celebrities right now. Let's get started.

So when you are doing this French braid on the bangs, you want to take a piece of hair just from the center of the bang. Use it as your center and go from left to right and you take this as far back as you want it. We just want a little bit here. Again, going back with the front and we are just going to wrap it around her forehead.

That's it and we are just going to cut the braid from here, the bangs right here. I'm just going to use a little rubber band.

Oh,yes! Plaiting your hair looks great, is stylish,BUT takes a lot of practice, especially if your hands are behind your head and you want that plait to be straight. Your arms will get tired because of the buildup of lactic acid and quite possibly, frustration will set in. Then I get people who ask me if I braid under or over. I have no clue. When you're doing the plait (braid) straight down the back of your head, start up high, with 3 pieces. Every time or almost every time your put one strand over the other, grab a small (you'll get the feel) piece of hair and add it to that one strand you're putting over. If you're on the middle strand, take a piece of hair from right underneath, not from the side. Keep the pieces of hair from the side, for the 2 outside strands. If you feel one strand is getting shorter and you can't plait it over, then grab hair from underneath. So, for the 3 strands of hair you start with, grab outside pieces of hair for the 2 outside strands (left side and right side). The strand in the middle - use the hair from underneath. And actually, as long as you are grabbing bits of hair from underneath, whether your braiding strand is getting short or not, it stabalizes the braid and will keep the strand longer. I'm telling you, it takes practice. It's great if you have a swing mirror so you can view what you are doing. Good Luck and I hope we all make great plaits!
