Salvage a Bad Hair Day with a Scarf Part 1
You'll love this Brigitte Bardot-inspired look

Taylor Chang-Babaian, Hair & Makeup Stylist:
So for this scarf look, what we want to do is create something kind of like a sixties, Brigitte Bardot, kind of hair look to salvage a bad hair day.
We are going to tease the top. A quick way to do this is to just section it off, so you have nice little ponytail and we are just going to start teasing from the root of her fringe. When you tease, what you want to do is tease from the back as well as the front. It doesn't have to be pretty, just go for it. The only time you want to do the back teasing is when you have gotten to the hairline in the front. My favorite brush to use for one of these, actually for teasing, is boar bristles. The bristles are just nice and strong and will give you this intense volume.
So, I've just sprayed a little bit of hairspray into my brush and I'm just going to smooth out our little bouffant. I'm just twisting this top layer and then I am going to pin it in. I like to crisscross the pins so that they hold even better. Then you can secure it even more using another rubber band at the base.
So for this Brigitte Bardot-1960's hair look, I'm using a square scarf again (perfect for hiding that bad hair day). About a foot and a half per side and I am going to fold it in half into a triangle. You're just basically rolling the scarf into a headband. Tie the scarf at the base and once again over the ponytail.
Now, you are going to push the headband back. So now, we just take the tail of your brush and just lifting that puff even higher because I want a bit more drama, but you can do whatever you prefer. I just sprayed the tail of my brush and I'm going to use it to smooth away any flyways I have. This is our third scarf look. Voila -- no more bad hair.

I think I'll stick with a ponytail. Thanks though.

Doesn't teasing damage the hair? That look may work for some. I would need a gashing wound to wear that. It does look good on a lot of people. Just not me.

My favorite way to save a bad hair day with a scarf: do a low, loose bun on the side of your head, instead of centered. Tie a bow around the bun. Viola, super cute.

Oh my!!! The teasing really hurts. Nice video though. I wanted to try it but I've one problem My hair doesn't even run through my shoulders. If she can post few ideas for short hair that would be really great. I liked the twist in the back. I do that in front on both sides or some times in the back.

this was a cute look but I actually liked it better before she put the scarf in. I want to try this look out though so now that I see how to do it, I will! I really liked the way she tied the scarf around the ponytail. Looks easy enough so hopefully it is!! Thanks TB!!

I think the finished look was really cute, but I would use a device or hair piece for height. Another trick is to part the hair where you want the height, fold the hair over into a small bun then add bobby pins according to your hair color. Make another part over top, and lightly brush this hair over the bun you made, then pin.Teasing could cause hair breakage !
