    Powdery Old Lady

I was quite surprised at how much I disliked this perfume. I have liked almost every other YSL perfume I've tried, and yet this didn't even come close. When I first sprayed it, it was a very strong powdery smell. After a few minutes I started to smell like an old woman. I'm in my 20s! As the day went on, the scent faded just a little and got more bearable, but I wouldn't use this again. I could not detect the berry notes at all; was the rose that overpowering?

    blech...

perfume is difficult to review because people have such varied senses of smell...This perfume is definitely not for me. The first thing that came to mind when smelling this was flowery old lady smell. just too heavy and floral. If you like a stronger scent, this might work for you.

Not a fan of this product

This sample arrived today and I smelled it immediately. I thought it smelled like pure alcohol at first and then it smelled like soap and got better as the smell lingered. It stays with you for a long time and has nice packaing. I could see an older generatin being pulled to this product opposed to a younger one.

    Summer Night

To me this perfume is very fruity yet mature all at the same time. It's the scent I would wear on a date during a hot summer night. It's a great scent! Good job YSL!

Interesting but Not My Typical Scent

What keeps me going back to it is the hidden temptation of the violet. I've always loved violet fragrances, although I find most of them unwearable. While I've never been a fan of large florals myself, this one is intriguing. I find myself searching for that violet. Occasionally I get a sniff of it, and it keeps me coming back for more. However, it's not a scent I'd wear often, as I am not a flora...read morel person. I also prefer deep complexity in my fragrances, and while Parisenne is interesting, it's not complex.

Romance, Elegance, and Sophistication -Just like a Paris

    Not too bad

I'd have to agree that the first thought that comes to mind is old lady. Elegant old lady, but still very geriatric. After an hour or so, I thought it smelled pretty good. It wouldn't be the first fragrance I'd pick out to wear for the night, but it would definitely be in the top three.

    Pretty and interesting

I was pleasantly surprised by YSL's new perfume Parisienne. I don't usually care much for rose scents, but this one is livened up with berries and woodsy notes, and the overall effect is pretty and modern. I don't find it too "old lady" at all. If the perfume were a person, I'd call her reserved and elegant (as opposed to fun and flirty, for example).

Nice enough, but doesn't match its concept

RRP: from £34 for 30ml --What does the promo say?-- "The portrait of a woman incredibly free. Free to think, free to act. She was not born in Paris, but Paris adopts her, because she conveys the joy of living and loving in the moment. A precious flacon, intricately carved like the labyrinth of Parisian streets, as soft as the sheets she has just left behind, as pink as an early morning sk...read morey, as couture as the YSL label on black leather. A grand floral with a woody structure, luminous even in its mystery, PARISIENNE is the perfume of ultra femininity, warmed by the touch of the man who embraced her. The top note adds the shine of vinyl, an ultra modern wink to gloss, varnish or the metal of a spike heel, before the tartness of cranberry adds a point of bitter sharpness - the evocation of a certain impertinence softened by sparkling, succulent, fruity blackberry, symbol of an epicurean PARISIENNE. The floral heart beats wildly with the absolute femininity of the Damask rose, which harmonizes perfectly with the powdery violet, sensual and carnal like leather worn by Kate Moss. In contrast, the peony gives a breath of PARISIENNE youth and a hint of morning freshness. The base note brings tumult and intensity in its woody wake. First with patchouli, the ultimate in mystery. And when the masculinity of vetiver flirts with the feminine eroticism of musk and sandalwood, one knows that this PARISIENNE knew a 'night of love'." --Packaging-- With echoes of Viktor and Rolf, it's unusual while still being romantic as the lilac liquid shines through the glass bottle. This is set off by a high-shine gold top that you simply pull off, and with the trademark YSL label stuck to the front in black and gold. --Application-- Spritz onto pulse points, and go. --Appearance-- While the liquid appears purplish in the bottle, nothing is visible on the skin. --Scent-- The overriding smell is of violets, so this definitely takes some getting used to. Some of the scents described in the brief are virtually undetectable (cranberry, for instance), while some of the others emerge later on (such as patchouli). I personally don't hate it, but this is definitely a personal thing: many people will find it too sweet and I certainly wouldn't call it a classic fragrance that will live forever. --Longevity-- About average, I'm afraid. Expect to reapply at least once or twice a day. --Value for money-- A nice enough fragrance (absolutely not down there with the horror of Sisley's fragrances) but for the money I'd expect something more timeless and something that lasted longer on your skin. As an English girl living in Paris, the concept of the perfume definitely appeals to me, but it's debatable as to whether the quality of the fragrance truly lives up to the vision. Go for Viktor and Rolf's Flowerbomb instead. perfect partners Parisienne Eau de Toilette, from £32 for 30ml Parisienne Body Lotion, £28 for 200ml Parisienne Shower Gel, £27 for 200ml

YSL Parisienne: Great For Those Who Like Light Scents

Parisienne is a blend of fruity and floral and appeals to women like me who like soft scents. It comes on strong at first, but after it dries on the skin it leaves a very subtle scent of rose and peony with a hint of musk - although I would have preferred the blackberry or cranberry notes to dominate. I especially like the packaging of the product as it is very simple, yet very elegant.
