Why Did They Name It "Butterfly?"

A friend gave me her bottle of Hanae Mori "Butterfly." She didn't like it. I liked the name; moreover, I can get along with pretty much any fragrance and was grateful. The key notes in this are Strawberries, Bilberries, Black Currant, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood, Almond, and Praline. Sounds great, right? I found it immediately harsh. Sweet

This perfume had many rave reviews at Sephora so I thought to check it out. It is a very sweet, very young perfume in my opinion and nothing I would consider sexy nor would I wear it. It wasn't horrible. The berries with vanilla make it sweet.

Lovely, but fades too quickly

I would say this is sweet and addictive. I'm very picky about my florals and sweet scents, they often either make me smell like a six year old who chain smokes or an old lady with powder trapped in her wrinkles. This is a sweet floral that's sophisticated enough to make the cut. I have the eau de toilette, but when I get my next bottle I plan on trying the parfum. Why? He said that he really likes how it smells so totally different depending on how long I've had it on, it goes from a sweet berry and flower scent to a warm vanilla musky wash. Good thing about the toilette though is that it's perfect for work. I have a boss who is extremely scent sensitive and she doesn't complain about this one a single bit.

wonderfully feminine

I don't know why this perfume has low ratings. I was first introduced to this product by my god sister. She gave me a bottle for Christmas about 10 years ago. I absolutely fell in love with this and have been using this solely since then. I have received countless compliments. Many times complete strangers would ask me what I was wearing and where they could purchase it. Majority are even me...read moren who said they would love to get it for their sister(s) or friends. This perfume is not too strong. As to others who comment that this smells liked old lady, I would totally disagree. The only thing that I would recommend not to do as with all other perfumes is to not wear other products (such as lotions, make ups, etc) that are scented as they may not mix well along with each person's bodily unique smell. The price is very reasonable and I almost always get mines from Sephora. They come nicely packaged along with a beautiful sash. You don't even need to wrap it if giving it as a gift. If you're not sure, you can always go to the store to test strip on yourself (bring a friend along) to see how it smells on you along with your honest friend's opinion.

sweets for the sweet

There's no denying this is unbelievably sugary--berries, vanilla, probably a touch of sandalwood... it's like wearing candy, but in a sophisticated way. I find it warm and cheery on an icky winter day, and on my skin it quickly dries down to a soft vanilla/woody note that is very comforting.

My absolute favorite!

This is the most amazing perfume I've ever used. I have others in my collection that come and go, but this is always a staple. Men and women always want to know what I'm wearing. It has a unique, sweet, yet subtle scent, and you smell just as good at the end of the day as the beginning! It's a harder scent to find, which I don't mind, it makes me feel like it's my own little secret! :)
