Different enzymes break down different food groups and this is a balanced formula of those enzymes. Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme derived from pineapple juice and stems. Betaine Hydrochloride (HCl) is a source of hydrochloric acid, found in the stomach. It is needed for healthy digestive function in general, but particularly for the assimilation of minerals and protein. Low stomach acid is a common cause of digestive problems.
