Shiseido Eyelash Curler Reviews

Amazing
For me, Shiseido and Shu are incomparable because of their shape difference. Shiseido's flatter shape is the closest thing to a perfect fit for my smaller Asian eyes, while giving my short lashes a long-lasting sky-high curl (a term I didn't understand until I encountered this curler). In contrast, my lashes would not fit in the Shu's rounder curve. I paid $20 CAD for this curler, which I do think is really steep for an eyelash curler. But I would definitely repurchase if I had to, since it gives me the best fit of all the curlers I've ever seen or tried, from both high-end and drugstore brands. (I'm not really expecting to replace this any time soon, though; it seems fairly sturdy.) My only qualms with this curler are really minor. I was unable to find the usual silver one - whose colour I prefer - and ended up purchasing the gunmetal one. This gunmetal curler feels slightly heavier than the other curlers I've tried before. I get good results with this but I still have to heat it with my blowdryer. My lashes are super straight & this is the only way I can keep the curl. The reason I gave it a 4 is simply because it's not quite curved enough for the shape of my eyes. I've bene using it since last spring & will likely start looking for a new one soon. Would I recommend it? Yes. It's a very well made tool with good quality pads. Really nice if it fits your eye shape. This is way better than the drugstore curler I used to use. I purchased it because the Sephora salesperson said that it was like a cheaper version of the famous Shu curler. I've never used that one, but have always been happy with my Shiseido one. It fits my eye and gives me a good curl that holds well. I'm happy with it. When it needs to be replaced, I may try the Shu one, but would also be happy to repurchase it. After reading many great reviews, I finally purchased this lash curler. The only lash curler that i have ever pocessed is from Revlon and I have adjusted my technics so I could actually achieve a rather satisfying job with it. The first time I got hold of the curler itself, it feels light and flexible, in fact, it even feels a bit too loose for my liking. it is actually faltter than Revlon and the first time i used it, it pinched my eyelid because I was not carefully enough. It fits better with my eyes but I am use to really push it and then squeeze hard. After a few tries, I think you need to use the correct technic and curl all the way up in order to get the best result. The first time I tried it, my lash folded upward in almost a 90 degree staight angle which was not pretty at all. But now, with less pressure and carefully move up the lashes, I actually can have curly lash that shoot up to my eyebrows. For something that works this well, $20 is a reasonable price to me and I am looking forward to purchase it again. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Not all eyelash curlers are created equal
Who knew an eyelash curler could make such a difference? Before I bought this, I'd been muddling through with my cheap-o Cover Girl curler, assuming that kinks in lashes were just a part of life. They aren't! Shiseido's thoughtfully designed curler works instantly--just squeeze and release--to give me a wide-eye look. — 4 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

i finally have curly eyelashes!
for years, i've made unsuccessful attempts to make my long and straight asian eyelashes curl, using various "curling mascaras" and eyelash curlers. i always tried drugstore brand curlers, thinking there couldn't be that much difference from the pricier brands since they looked the same, right? WRONG. why did it take me so long to invest in the shisheido curler? after being convinced by all the glowing reviews here, i finally splurged and was it worth it! the curler curves perfectly to my eyelid so i catch all my lashes without pinching; a few firm squeezes down the length of my lashes produces the natural eye-opening curl i've wanted for oh so long! no funny crimps, no strange 90-degree angled lashes. just a long lasting curl, good on its own for a natural look and perfect for acheiving those vavavavoom lashes with mascara! LOVE this product. — 2 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Well worth the cost
Don't spend five bucks on a curler that won't reach every lash, pinch your eyelid, or fall apart after only a couple months of use. This eyelash curler is nothing short of amazing. It gets even the smallest lashes in the corners of your eyes without any pinching, pulling or tugging. It never fails to get in close to deliver great curl and lift for lashes. It's also easy to clean and replace the pads. — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

From dreaded chore to enjoyable step
I wish I had discovered this eyelash curler years ago! I tried several of the iconic cult favorites over the years and eventually gave up on ever finding a curler that would allow me to curl ALL my lashes at the base at the same time, instead of missing some lashes or, worse yet, crimping them on the diagonal (ugh!). A few weeks ago I finally decided that I was going to try one last time to find a curler that didn't make me dread curling my lashes and that left them evenly curved (with staying power). I decided that the problem with all the curlers I had tried over the years was that they were too deeply curved for the shape of my eye. So although my eyes don't look even vaguely Asian, I decided to try the top-rated curler for Asian lashes, which was wider and had a shallower curvature than the others I had tried. Eureka!!! This curler is by far the best $19 I've ever spent on a makeup tool, and I expect it to last for many, many years, which makes it a great value. Now I actually look forward to curling my lashes when I'm doing my makeup! No struggling, no repeated crimpings because the first one only got the base of PART of my lashes. My eyes look bigger and brighter, and it's much easier to keep my lashes separated when I apply mascara. If your eyelash curler isn't giving you the results you're looking for, definitely try one with a different curvature. You won't believe the difference it makes! — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

Ordinary
Like the Shu Uemera curler, it works like most other lash curlers and if I'm not careful it will pinch my skin. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 6 people said helpful

My one and only
I've been using this one for years. Works perfectly, and doesn't tug or beat your eyelashes up. My lashes look great, even without mascara. Doesn't make that weird kink or bend in the eyelashes that some curlers leave you with. The curl is soft and dramatic and elegant. This is a really high quality tool, as you'd expect from Shiseido. I think the general consensus in the beauty industry for the best eyelash curlers are of course the legenedary Shu Uemura curlers and this lovely one from Shiseido! I've tried other eyelash curlers from time to time and there really is no other. — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 6 people said helpful

The Best
For years I passed by Shiseido Eyelash Curler to ones that were less expensive. I looked at the overall design and thought, "How could Shiseido be better than Maybelline?" Conspicious consumption got the better of me, and I broke down and bought Shiseido. I was a fool for not succumbing earlier. This is the best eyelash curler that I have ever owned. No pinching, great curling, and easy to use. — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 6 people said helpful
