    hard to use

    for the price, this product doesn't apply well. It stains well around the lip line, but easily comes off in the middle of your lips leaving a line around the mouth. It looks like you need to reapply your lip stain. November 12, 2007, 8:14 am

    I don't know if it's just my lips but this rouge wouldn't color my top lip as good as the lower lip no matter how many times I swiped it with the applicator. Also the color wears off too quick starting at the center of the lips so after about 2 hours, I'm left with a ring around my lip area as if I had just applied lip li...ner and forgot to put my lipstick on. I don't know how long this was sitting on the shelf at my local Sephora but I just got this a little over a month ago and the felt tip is already pretty dry, making it hard to get the product out. I had high hopes for this as it came in a felt pen-type applicator which I like. Sadly for a lip stain, it doesn't work too well. Now it sits in a drawer among other stuff I disliked, drying up even more. For the price, I have used better lip stains than this that lasted longer and wore off more evenly.     Pen dries out quickly

    I must begin by saying that I am a huge fan of the "felt tip" marker type of lip stains. I expected great things from this product. Well the colors are pretty; I have Moue which is a a reddish brown and flare, a coral. I was careful to store them tightly closed and upside down so that the colors would not dry... out. Well, after a couple of months the Moue was as hard as a rock. Flare was still moist and usable. For the money, you should get a product that lasts longer than 2 months.     And the horse they rode in on

    I hated this lip stain. The stain itself smells like some horse hoof balm I can't remember the name of. The application is just about impossible to accomplish in anything but a hit-and-miss-a-spot fashion. The little sponge is always either too wet (hit) or too dry(miss,) leaving my lips looking as if I had been attacked by... a shaky drunk with a marker pen - always a becoming daytime look, I think. Once applied, it is extremely drying. Oh, and it tends to weep out into the fine lines around my mouth in a roadmap pattern. And as an added bonus, it wears off quickly, but not quickly enough and not in an even or attractive way. Just an unpleasant product all around. Too much money for an effect you could get with a packet of KoolAid and a wet cotton swab. No really, compare them, I dare you. July 29, 2008, 9:03 pm

    i've purchased and returned several of these thinking it was just a bad batch...but I'm pretty sure after 3 or 4 of them, I'm gonna have to say it's just a bad product. It works on your hand and on the first half of your lip, then it stops working all together...And, the colors aren't that great. If you could get them to wo...rk, they're either too bright, too orange, or too purple. no good. May 19, 2008, 9:10 pm

    Yuck

    Great concept - horrible product. I don't have any visible lines around my mouth (yet) and this stuff bled into the skin around my lips. I have smooth lips and somehow it found a little tiny dry patch, settled there, and made it a darker red. I don't take many things back - this went right back! May 6, 2008, 8:35 am

    This might be my least favorite Stila product ever. The pen dries out quickly and is hard to apply to the lip. I also felt like it had a drying effect on my lips. The colors are cute, but are pointless in this pen. My pen was dry after only a few uses. I wouldn't get this again. November 17, 2008, 1:40 pm

    Very drying formula

    I have smooch, which is a fantastic color, yet it is VERY drying. I can't wear it more than one day in a row, or my lips become dehydrated to the point of irritation. It makes my lips chapped for days afterwards. Too bad- the color is gorgeous. April 28, 2008, 12:58 pm

    Worse lip stain ever!!

    This lip stain is the pits. The felt tip applicator does not allow the product to flow properly on your lips to get even color. And the pen itself dries out very quickly despite storing it as per manufacturer's instructions. December 10, 2007, 10:49 am

    I loved the color when I initially put it on, but within a few minutes, the color spread and then it dried out on my lips and rested into the creases. Not a good look on anyone. I wanted to like and recommend, but I can't - there's other products out there that might be better! December 18, 2008, 8:18 am
