Lip Gloss and the dissatisfied consumer

      by PinkAmazon (29 reviews)
      Trusted Review
I've been a beauty/makeup fanatic for years. Every woman has expectations when they purchase a product. If they feel a product can meet these expectations, they will buy it. Lip gloss is good when it's not too heavy, gives good pigmented color and a nice shine. If someone's lips are in very poor condition, there ...is no miracle that any average lip gloss can perform. Disappointment in the lack of color, the heavy feel of too much lacquer and dryness are common complaints. Makeup Forever is a good line. I feel it's important for the consumer to contact the company directly and deal with the issues about the product. The color may be wrong for the consumer, the product may be flawed in some way due to shipment or manufacture, the consumer may be allergic to the product or it's ingredients or it's possible that the condition of their lips is not a good environment for lip gloss at this time. The issues need to be discussed with the company. I have never used this brand lip gloss but I have had disappointing experiences with lip gloss and it's usually due to a faded looking color. This is often due to too much acid in the consumer's system. Everyone's chemistry is different. The best lines have consumers who find fault with lip products. The lips are skin and need to be cared for like the rest of the face. Many women are unhappy with the shape or size of their lips. There are lip enhancers and volumizers that also work as glosses. Best to take a lip pencil and fill in the lips with color and then use a bit of gloss. March 11, 2008, 5:16 am

First let me say I didn't buy this for the "plumping" effect as my lips are already plump. I got it because I'm simply a lipgloss junkie and like trying out different glosses from different manufactures ranging from very cheap to expensive. While the gloss is pretty shiny, I wouldn't describe it as having the &q...uot;vinyl" effect. It's basically just a shiny lip gloss...nothing more. Lasting power is pretty decent but like any lip gloss, it will come right off when eating or drinking. However the packaging is sleek enough that you can put it in your purse or pocket for re-application. It does keep the lips hydrated but so does chapstick or other lip balms for much cheaper. Overall, it wasn't too bad but I just can't justify spending $20 for a lip gloss that performs just like any other. May 7, 2009, 3:27 am

      Not Worth the Big Bucks

I expect a great deal from this makeup line and this lip gloss just doesn't deliver. It wears off quickly, "vinyl" is not how i would describe the look it gives your lips, more like subtle sheen; you want stimulation and plumping this is not the way to go (Duwop is the plumping gloss that rocks by the way). And ...this product is EXTREMELY overpriced as far as living up to its promise and its name. November 29, 2007, 10:49 am

      Glossy Full

Got this at Sephora and chose #3 with the help of a wonderful SA in Soho - love the sheer, peachy colour! The downside is that this has a strong, minty "sting" to it. There's no actual lip-plumping effect, the gloss is quite sheer and sticky - but the taste was too strong for me. Feels like smearing toothpaste ...on my lips. May 25, 2009, 6:23 am

      completely disagree

I know many makeup artists who SWEAR by this gloss. I personally have used many glosses from luxury lines and this is my favorite. The gloss has the highest shine while still being thin enough that makeup artists can mix it with powders without getting a consistency too thick. It is a favorite in the professional indust...ry. Grand offense: Inflated claims. It "just doesn't deliver. It wears off quickly, 'vinyl' is not how I would describe the look it gives your lips (more like subtle sheen). And this product is extremely overpriced." I totally agree with this statement. July 5, 2008, 4:20 pm
