Love Chi flat irons

by jforjewels (3 reviews)
After starting with a cheaper iron and not being able to repeat what they did in the salon I spent the money, and it is pricey, for a Chi. It makes my hair look sleek and shiney. I can straighten, curl, or flip easily. Worth the money for me.10/25/2007

I've been straightening my long curly hair with this for over four years now, and my hair is still shiny and healthy despite every day use. I recommend using this iron with Bumble and Bumble Straight (a silicone based serum) for best results. January 3, 2008, 10:50 am

I had my husband take a look at it and he figured out what was wrong. A piece of the cord had melted and some of the wires were exposed. I don't know if it melted because the wires were too hot, or if the cord was exposed to the iron. He spliced it and rewired it, and so far so good. Just hope my house doesn't burn down some morning...but I don't want to give it up because it works sooo well! October 29, 2007, 9:17 am

    Excellent iron

It takes 1 minute to heat up. I put the Phytodefrisant and Farouk biosilk on my hair while it's wet. When my hair is dry, I run it through with the chi iron. It only takes me 3 minutes to straighten my hair. I have thick, wavy Asian hair. This iron has been amazing. I used to use the Conair ceramic iron with the Phyto and Farouk and it didn't get my hair as straight. When it was raining or when the weather was just damp from humidity in the air, my hair would be really frizzy. But with the chi, I have stopped having frizzy hair. February 5, 2008, 7:48 am

December 17, 2007, 12:06 am My mother gave me the Chi as a Christmas present three years ago, and I thought she was nuts to buy yet another flat iron for my poofy hair (and an expensive one at that!) She practically had to bribe me to try it out, but I was instantly impressed by how well it worked. My hair is very long and VERY THICK, meaning it takes forever to use any styling tool and the style rarely holds longer than 15 minutes. The Chi (the bigger model) whips through my hair and in one stroke the strands are automatically straight (but not fried). And the style HOLDS! I wash my hair every other day (since its such a hassle) and I only rarely need a touch up on the straight style since it holds day after day. WONDERFUL product! I dont know what the review by the stylist on here said about it "burning out". I've had my same iron for three years and its still going strong. Maybe her's wore out because she used it 8 hours a day/5 days a week at a salon? December 17, 2007, 12:06 am

December 11, 2007, 10:57 am I have pretty unruly hair. It's curly and thick and frizzy. I've been straightening it for years because it looks soooo much better straight. However, until I discovered the Chi, it used to take me an hour to an hour and a half to get my hair straight, and it would only last until I went outside into the Florida humidity! Now it only takes me 15 to 20 minutes to get my hair lookin' good, and it lasts until I wash my hair again!! Thank God for the Chi!!! *Just make sure your hair is 100 percent dry first, it makes the process alot quicker and more successful. December 11, 2007, 10:57 am

December 4, 2007, 2:09 pm I have purchased no less than 6 or 7 flat irons over the last couple of years and I might as well have just thrown my money out the window. This flat iron is absolutely superior to any other one I have tried. My hair is wavy and I usually have to first blow it straight, then flat iron to get it stick straight. With the Chi, I can let my hair air dry, then use the flat iron and it comes out straight, silky and shiny. It heats up quickly and it straightens my hair on the first try. There is no need to re-iron sections of my hair. I love it! December 4, 2007, 2:09 pm

    My First CHI (Turbo)

November 29, 2007, 5:41 pm I just recently ordered this straightener from Amazon. I was in dire need of a quality straightener because my hair is very resiliant. It isn't curly but it has a slight wave to it, and is very (very) thick. My GVP straightener from Sally's just wasn't cutting it. I had tried my aunt's pink CHI and it worked wonders (made my hair silky, pin straight, and shiny!) which are 3 very unexpected things to say about my hair! So I convinced my mom to let me get this (as an early Christmas present). I wanted the Turbo because it was the most affordable and had the option to change heat settings. For the most part it gets the job done, but I was a little dissapointed that it wasn't as great as my aunts. This one did not make my hair shiny so I have to by styling products in place of what it lacks. But it does straighten well. I would still reccomend it. November 29, 2007, 5:41 pm

Well after having to buy 3 of them because each one of them broke, I finally decided that I needed to buy the CHI (especially since they use it in my hair salon). Well, I got the CHI flat iron as a Christmas gift and it was the best one I could have asked for. It makes my hair so straight and shiney and it doesn't make my hair look dry and damaged. October 28, 2007, 7:48 am While the straightener works incredibly well (I have naturally curly/frizzy hair that is highly unmanagable without straightening), I have had problems with the circuitry, it seems. It appears there is a short of some sort. Sometimes the item will turn itself off, even though it doesn't have an auto-off feature. The unit will be heating, and will then have no light on to indicate its status (solid indicates heating, flickering indicates the temperature is reached). I can remedy this problem by slightly adjusting the desired temperature on the slide, to reinitiate the heating sequence. I started my straightening experience with this product though, and have heard folks have had bad results from lesser products, so I will stick with Chi Turbo. October 28, 2007, 7:48 am

I would have to hold it a certain way to get it to work, which obviously is a hard thing to do when you are doing your hair! This last time I just had to buy a different brand altogether... :( June 2, 2008, 11:12 am

  • Directions

  • Invest in a quality shampoo and conditioner that is for your hair type (dry/color-treated,damaged,or normal/oily) 2. I recommend getting a good deep conditioner/reconstructor/hot oil treatments (once or twice a month), because since you'll be straightening often, it will do your hair wonders. 3. Use a hair serum that is heat protected. It can be used before and after blow drying. 4. You can either blow dry or air dry your hair. If you decided to blow dry, use the lowest setting possible. 5. Then flat iron your hair. Find the right temperature, you don't want to fry your hair. If you try this, I guarantee you that your hair will be smoother, sleeker, straighter, silkier and sexier than ever before. To get better results, buy quality products. Yes, it may be expensive. But it's definitely worth it! And remember, the less product you use, the better the results will be. Always follow the directions of the product. The more product you use, the more money you'll be throwing down the drain. Oh, get a LEAVE IN CONDITIONER! It is the best!
