Katherine Heigl's Less-Than-Stellar Hairstyle at "The Killers" Premiere

Last night Katherine Heigl strutted down the red carpet at the premiere of her latest flick, "Killers," with her hair looking...er, ok we’ll say it, absolutely terrible. On top of her hideous outfit choice, the starlet sported some sort of short, frizzy corkscrew curls that seemed both juvenile and just plain inappropriate for a celebrity-packed movie premiere.

Heigl, who recently told David Letterman that she's a naturally dirty blonde, normally looks great at events but this time, fell far short of the mark. We prefer the actress with her trademark blonde tresses a la Izzy from "Grey's Anatomy," however, as any hair stylist will tell you, repeatedly bleaching your hair blonde can cause serious stress on your locks and overall hair care health. And, though we're not digging the style she sported for the premiere, Heigl’s new chocolate brown shade does match her skin tone nicely, which is key when you’re fair-skinned and thinking about going darker.

Thinking about taking a color cue from Heigl? (Please don't try the hairstyle!) You should always consult a hair stylist first. It’s a big misconception that whatever color is on the box of your at-home dye kit will show up on your head.

Also, if your hair is especially light, it can take a few times for the color to saturate into your hair, so your best bet is to always consult a professional before trying out a new darker shade. Once you’re satisfied with your hue, make sure to use a deep conditioner at least once a week to keep hair super healthy and shiny, as sometimes brown shades can get a bit lackluster after a few weeks or so.

You might also want to consider trying a color-depositing shampoo if you notice the hue is changing after two or three weeks. Color-depositing shampoos are a great, recession-friendly option to extend the life of your color and make time between touching up less frequent.

What do you think of Heigl’s “Killers” premiere hair? And, do you prefer her blonde or brunette?
