I never like hearing about celebrity breakups (or any breakups for that matter). I guess it’s just a byproduct of my delusion that I "know" these A-listers that I "see" daily on TV and in mags. Anyway, I was sad to hear that Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet and her director husband Sam Mendes have recently split up after nearly seven years of marriage (hello seven year itch).

The silver lining in all this (I think) is that she’ll probably look better than ever post-divorce. Many actresses have gotten great makeovers as a result of a breakup -- case in point: Demi Moore started looking her best (see the anti-aging tricks that she's likely using here) after her first marriage ended; Reese never looked better with her long hair and bangs when she and Ryan Phillippe got divorced; and Abbie Cornish just chopped her hair into a posh bob after breaking up with him too -- Ryan’s quite the makeover-maker.
