The economy sucks, but that doesn't mean your blowouts, facials or waxes should be the first to go

Divide and Conquer When every penny counts, for some, it takes an act of deception to maintain their beauty routine. "It's not unusual for clients of mine to not want their husbands to know how much they're spending on makeup," says Makeup artist Raychel Wade, owner of Cheek to Chic. In order to avoid sacrificing their favorite products, women will often charge half of the bill on a credit card that goes to a joint account, and they'll use cash or a personal check to pay for the remainder.
Absolutely not! Time to sort priorities here. As one savvy readers says below me, "true beauty and happiness come from within, and not from salons." Well spoken!
I agree with Little Bunny... this is a little over the top. There are lots of ways to spend sensibly, and still be able to get beauty salon treatments besides the ones listed.
I always use, well, almost always(I can't make my own mascara! ) natural from my kitchen beauty aids, my conditioner is after my hair is dry to pour a bit of olive oil in my hands rub together and massage thru my hair. Face masks I make myself, and for wrinkles I use a dusting of cornstarch and rosewater spritzed over it. Never go in the sun. I will save for microdermabrasion twice a year, and have used botox around my eyes and will later do the between the brows and a bit on my forehead. I have used homemade ingrediants since I was 13 with good results, and at age 47 have very few lines~and don't want to quite yet either! My skin texture and coloring is over all very good, even tone. No matter what the economy is, or isn't, I work for my money and will save for what I feel is neccessary, like Latisse since I lost eyelashes during a bout with cancer and this is what has worked for me to re-grow those lashes. My skin is will be with me for at least 40 more years- and I want to look presentable as long as possible. My sense of esteem is important to me and keeps me relaxed and well nurtured in order to relate well with others.
