According to Foreman, not all nail files are created equally. "I prefer a glass nail file, since they are gentle on the nails, easy to clean, and will last a lifetime if cared for properly," she explains. How exactly should you file your nails? "Use one side to gently buff out ridges and the other to create a healthy shine."

I could benefit from cuticle oil since I do my own nails, and I moisturize, but for some reason, my right thumb is always dry! I bought Seche Vite at Sally's Beauty, but haven't tried it out yet since I'm trying to finish my other top coat bottle. I wonder if Sally's has a glass file.

I myself prefer the metal nail files as they are flexible and they have the tapered end for cleaning under nails. Also, at the dollar store, you can get a pack of 4 for a buck and they last months!

I love my glass nail file. But the Seche Vite top coat chips very very fast. Usually within one day. It does dry crazy fast though.

Hmmm. It seems I might have to try a glass file. I have only found a few that don't make me cringe when I use them. My nail are extra sensitive and anytime they touch something I get those awful "nails on a chalkboard" chills.

I started using a glass file this year... works so great that I instantly tossed out every emery board we had in our house. Oh, and I love the ELF nourishing cuticle oil pen! Works great and only $1!

I have a glass nail file (bought from Ulta) and it is awesome. Defniitely seems less damaging (a finer file than most emery boards). Also, I bought a mini one (about half the length) that I keep in my purse: best find ever! The most dangerous thing for a broken nail is time, cuz I will keep picking at it until it is smooth and often that leaves me with no nail at all!

I do own nail/cuticle oil and it is the best product for my nails and cuticles. Creams are not enough and I do own a glass nail file. Not sure it's the best option but it's pretty decent. Just one thing though....Have you paid attention to the prices of recommended products?? 48$ for a foot scrub?? 18$ for a nail varnish or a base coat??? Are you insane?! Only thing I remember was decent was the top polish for 4$. Please be more realistic in the future.

Glass nail files are amazing and can be very long lasting-- but DO NOT purchase from Revlon. I picked one up because I'm normally pleased with Rev, but it's completely useless and not re-usable. Check Sephora or Ulta for a better quality one.
