And the eureka moment I've been waiting for happens It's three weeks in and I'm finally starting to feel better, stronger, and leaner. I followed the doc's advice and now go to class in the mornings, with my friend, and have stopped imagining that by the end of this month, I am going to look like Kelly Ripa. Other behaviors of mine have changed as well.
I've stopped caring as much about food. Before I was working out on regular basis, it wasn't a big deal to eat the bagels, donuts, and cupcakes that make an oh-so-often appearance in the office break room. Now that I have to feel that devilish burn between my thighs every morning, a chocolate donut just doesn't seem worth it.
I've also started doing other exercises. Since I typically go to Physique during the week, I find myself getting antsy on the weekends and wanting to -- get this -- work out more. Weird, I know. I've started hiking and finally riding my bike that's been collecting dust.
And I've picked up a few tricks that help me get through each class like a champ ...
Great job! Getting started is the hardest part and as long as you continue, it'll be easy to keep those good habits. Now I am inclined to look into the Physique 57 classes. There is not gym where I live that offers it, but perhaps I can find a DVD where I can try it at home. Nice work!
Researchers at the University of Utah found that adults who consume eight or more glasses of water each day burned significantly more calories than people who only drank four or less.
WHY ISN'T THIS SHOUTED FROM THE ROOFTOPS???
Wonderful, my girl! Confessing to breaking down and all, putting yourself through the mill, and coming out the other side a winner! Yesssss! Make all us gals proud, and I, for one, am truly motivated!
This is super inspiring. I don't have a p57 near me and I know I give up on AT HOME workouts - but you are giving me the courage to find a program I can stick to.
Your post encouraged me to buy P57 and I just completed my first workout this morning. I'm now rereading your review to keep myself encouraged. I am already sore from a workout I completed 3 hours ago. I did not know that was possible. I'm glad to know that folks who aren't Kelly Ripa can improve and eventually get through it and make progress since I'm not really feeling it right now! Thanks!
I want to try! :) I work out 3-5 days a week and would love a change up. My work outs are getting just a little bit boring as it is. I'm not looking to look like Kelly Ripa though. She's beautiful, but too skinny for me.
I loved your article... I've been on the treadmill for 6 weeks and my weight has gone up and I'm not feeling that my body is any different... ugh. I'm going to FINALLY put in those physique 57 dvds and get working on those!!!
Not to be mean but . . . and I know this lame phrase is always followed by a less than nice comment, but . . . I think she is a bit TOO thin and could use a little more meat on her bones. : /
This article was wonderful. I workout about 3-4x/wk and I get tired of the same boring ol' classes. This article motivated me to switch it up. Tonight, I'm going to go to my usual spin class, but tomorrow, I'm going to try something different. Thank you!
MOTIVATION!!! I need motivation! This article has given me quite a bit of it! I'm not near (enough) to LA, and certainly not NYC, however, I think I will go dust off my kettle bells (only 5lbs - but they feel like 50 LOL) and the DVD's that came with them and get my rear into gear!!!
Wanting to lose weight at 5'6" and 150 lbs? Well, everyone's bodies are different. I'm 5'4" and only a bit overweight at 170. About 145 or so is apparently a good weight for me, I guess it's my build. Because when I weighed 135, a friend's friend (who's a size 0) was telling me "oh my god, you're so scrawny!" So a healthy weight for a person depends on their build, not just how tall they are. If I weight less than 140, people tell me I look like a skeleton with skin stretched over it and need to eat more. I looked really bad when I got down to 127 once when I had food poisoning and was constantly throwing up and stuff.
I can teach anybody wanting to loose weight, how to do so with diet and supplements alone. I recently lost 25 pounds in 28 days. You are able to burn directly from the bad fat stores (the areas that you can't get rid of from working out alone) and reset your metabolism. The best part is that you don't gain your weight back after the diet is finished! Let me know if you would like more info. You will loose between 15 and 30 pounds in 28 days!
Oh Ripa is far from good loking, charizmatic yes but beautiful and good looking no! She looks too thin, her skin seems to age badly and it is silly for you to want her body because your body is a completely different type than hers!
The article about her trying to get into shape was great but the "role model" (kelly ripa) was in poor taste. She is terribly anorexic and getting only thinner, she is far from healthy and more like scary skinny! There are plenty of other women out there who look great, and are healthy!
inspiring! sometimes the biggest challenge is just getting started - and the next challenge is sticking with it. but i totally agree, once you find some sort of workout activity that challenges you, the donuts and french fries are less tempting (knowing how much harder you have to work to burn those extra calories!)
