Stephanie Seymour is the New Face of Estée Lauder

One of the original "Super Models" joins the roster of beautiful faces representing the iconic brand

Once lumped in with those irritating "We don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day" super models of the '90s, Stephanie Seymour, now 45, has just fulfilled a lifelong dream -- that of working for Estée Lauder.

As a teenage model, Seymour remembers her mom Karen Graham (herself a spokes model) telling her that she would work for the Lauder company one day. But, throughout her storied career that's included stints as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and a Victoria's Secret Angel as well as campaigns with Revlon, Dior and L'Oréal, that one gig remained elusive. Till just before Christmas last year.

"It was my Christmas present," Seymour told WWD during an interview on Monday. "The first thing I did was call my mother -- and she laughed and said, 'How cute -- I can't believe you remember that!' But it always stuck with me. Whenever I heard they were looking for models, I would always cross my fingers and hope. For a model to work with Estée Lauder is the pinnacle of things. And to be a part of a major brand, which is hiring models rather than actresses, is also huge."

And, according to remarks from Lauder's global brand president, Jane Hertzmark Hudis, theirs is a mutual admiration society. "Stephanie represents modern women today in such a beautifully articulated way and she represents modern beauty and luxury to us. This campaign will speak to the beautiful complexity that makes her who she is."

Seymour, who will represent the brand alongside other famous faces like Carolyn Murphy, Constance Jablowski and longtime Lauder rep, Elizabeth Hurley, recently shot her first component of the campaign with famed photographer Mario Sorrenti. Even New York City's horrendous weather couldn't put a damper on her big day. "I looked out the window and was like, "I am not going to be late for this shoot!'"

This campaign, which is expected to hit this fall, is a nice respite from the tabloid-ridden life Seymour's been living for the last couple of years. Her much publicized on again/off again divorce from multi-millionaire Peter Brandt, her rumored substance abuse issues and speculation of an inappropriate relationship with her (gay) son, have plagued Axl Rose's ex for years. But, with this new job should come a new found peace for the stunningly beautiful Seymour who, despite her age, can certainly give those off-the-turnip-truck young models a fair run for their money.
