Korea's Plastic Surgery Industry Has Created a Passport Problem

Women with new faces are getting stopped at the border

Korea's obsession with plastic surgery is well-documented. But here's something we hadn't thought of: What if your plastic surgery is so good, that it makes you unrecognizable? And what if that makes it impossible for you to actually get into your home country?

That's what's actually happening to countless women from Japan and China who've made the pilgrimage to South Korea to visit top surgeons. When they're ready to travel home, customs officials are stopping them at the gate, unable to reconcile their passport photos with the women standing in front of them.
