Jay Z Collaborating With Mega Designers for Barneys Holiday Collection

The media mogul is poised to set the store (and website) on fire

Ah, to be a fly on the wall at the Jay Z/Beyoncé house (or plane, or boat, etc.).

You'd think that they already have their hands full with their "day jobs," yet every time we turn around there's an announcement of some new venture that one or the other of them has decided to undertake.

This morning it's Jay who's making headlines. (Although, to be fair, B is getting her fair share of press for having long hair again and having worn socks through on the tarmac at the Puerto Rico airport, because, you know, that stuff is news, people.)

So, what does Shawn Corey Carter have up his sleeve? Meh, just a fab collab with some of fashion's biggest names. Oh, and this group effort just so happens to be for a little store called Barneys. That's all. No big whoop. Ha.

Blue Ivy's dad has hit the design table with oodles of major design houses, including; Lanvin, Balenciaga, Balmain, Rick Owens, Moncler and Proenza Schouler, to create a "signature piece" for Barney's "A New York Holiday" showcase.

"With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy, and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces," Jay said in the official press release. "Everything that encompasses 'A New York Holiday' -- the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows -- represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me."

The collection will be housed in store in a shop called "BNY SCC Gallery" (Barneys New York Shawn Corey Carter) and, surprise, there are going to be some surprisingly affordable items. Ranging in price from $70 for a cotton tee shirt to $33, 900 for a Hublot watch, the collection is set to debut online and at Barneys stores in NYC, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston on November 20 and run through January 3. Oh, and by patronizing the BNY SCC endeavor, you're giving back -- 25 percent of all sales go to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
