• Even though the first black Barbie debuted in the '60s, she's finally just now getting a hair update. Sort of. The online doll maker Natural Girls United, takes existing dolls and gives them afros, braids and bandu knots, to better reflect real womens' hair. "I see people walking around with gorgeous hairstyles that inspire me," said company founder and doll designer Karen Byrd. Byrd said she loved Barbie, but said she "always noticed that my African American dolls did not look like me. If a child is constantly looking at images, dolls, television, books and magazines and only seeing beauty as something or someone with non-ethnic features and long, straight hair -- then they are going to assume that this is what beauty is. It is something that has hurt our young people for centuries." The custom designs retail for between $40 and $140. [Shine]

• Katie Holmes looks absolutely smokin' I'm this new Bobbi Brown ad, and it's creepily interactive. Using the blippar mobile phone app, the ad comes to life when you hold your phone over the ad, telling you about Holmes' eye makeup and offering behind-the-scenes video from her shoot. Pretty cool, huh? [BellaSugar]

• Searching for medical information on the web is prone to make us feel sicker, says a new study published in Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking. No duh, says anybody who's ever spent a late, worried night, perusing their symptoms on WebMD. [Motherboard]

• Ladies, we've come one step closer to cyborg status. Everpurse handbags have built-in charging docks to make sure your mobile phones never run out of batteries. Because we all know how terrifying it is when your phone gets down into the red 20 percent battery danger zone. [Fast Co Desgin]

• Hungover? Admit it, you just might be. If so, science suggests you swig a Sprite. Researchers at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China, found that Spite bested all other beverages when it came to treating the headache nausea, and general self-loathing associated with a hangover. Who knew? [UPI]

• Do we need real18K white gold and real silver leaf nail polish? No. But that doesn't mean we don't want it. OPI's new Mariah Carey Pure collection comes in at around $30 a bottle, which is pretty steep, but totally worth it for the bragging rights. [Shine]
