As an acne-prone gal with sensitive skin, you can understand my hesitation with face oils. But as I become more interested in skin care (read: as I get older), I'm beginning to appreciate the silky texture and powerful ingredients you get with an oil.

This new oil-based serum from Clarins is a doozy. It has 20 (!) plant extracts that moisturize, stimulate collagen, protect against environmental damage, and more. It comes in a double-barreled chamber (one side contains a water-based formula and the other is oil based), and when you pump it the two formulas combine for the most potent mixture possible.

Clearly, there's a lot going on in this little bottle, but I wondered how it would work on my skin. I gave it a pump and attempted the signature Clarins application method (press it into my skin, going from the middle of the face outward). The first thing I noticed was the scent -- it's a very strong floral fragrance. Not unpleasant, but I typically go for unscented products. But then I realized that my skin was glowing in a dewy perfection, not oil-slick-shiny kind of way. And it was a nice base for my BB cream.
