Lady GaGa Will Not Be Launching Her Own Fragrance

Rumors were flying that the singer was set to launch her first fragrance but Coty has denied allegations.

The internet was buzzing yesterday as reports came out that chart topping singer, Lady GaGa, would be coming out with her very first signature fragrances. It was reported that Coty Inc., the company behind other celebrity scents from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Halle Berry, would be creating the fragrance just in time for the next holiday season. The fragrance was rumored to have a very “unusual” scent and was also said to be backed by a heavyweight marketing campaign, including TV ads.

Rumors turned out to be false! Women’s Wear Daily reported this morning that executives at Coty Inc. denied the report and have not, in fact, signed a deal with Lady GaGa. “I know nothing of this project,” Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing for the firm’s Coty Beauty division, told WWD. “It is a totally false rumor.”

Despite Coty’s denial, speculation continues to grow. The mega star has already rolled out Haus of GaGa, her first fashion line, and has collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to create a signature Viva Glam lipstick in a bubble gum pink shade, which hit stores in February.

GaGa is quite the pop phenomenon. With over 10 million Facebook fans, said to be the highest number of any living person, and over 4.8 million Twitter followers, GaGa even outnumbers President Barack Obama. GaGa’s first album, “The Fame,” earned six Grammy Award nominations and won awards for “Best Electronic/Dance Album” and “Best Dance Recording.” As of May 2010, Lady GaGa has sold over 15 million albums and over 40 million singles worldwide. Time magazine included GaGa in its annual Time 100 list of most influential people in the world and in June 2010, Forbes magazine listed GaGa as number four in its list of the 100 most powerful and influential celebs in the world.
