Victoria's Secret Models Are Like "Olympians"

Plus toast perfume, and more of the top stories of the day

• The Victoria's Secret pleasure robots must undergo vigorous inspection if they're going to walk in brand's annual holiday runway show. Vigorous inspection. Casting director Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou examines all of the beauties -- even the very famous names among them -- for imperfections. "It's really like being an Olympian," she said. "They have to be in peak condition. It's not about being thin or anything like that -- it's about being ready to perform and be the best you can be in that moment." Some of the girls are even -- gasp! -- trying to gain weight so they'll be more curvaceous for the big day. Lindsay Ellingson says she's been on a steady diet of "almond butter, peanut butter, protein shakes ... just to feel a little sexier and curvier." God bless that woman. [Daily Mail]

• We all like different smells. Some of us are into the air after it rains. Or lilies. Or ... toast. Which is why the UK Federation of Bakers launched Eau De Toast, a new fragrance just in time for London Fashion Week. The scent contains notes of caramel, malt, and bread. And there's some science to why the scent works, too. The Journal of Social Psychology found that the scent of freshly baked bread makes people act nicer to one another. Isn't that weird? It's pretty weird. [Yahoo Shine]

• We are really, really feeling this Shu Uemura New Generation S Curler -- for a number of reasons, one of which is because we sometimes sort of stab ourselves in the eye with regular eyelash curlers, and two: isn't it so fun to say "Shu Uemura New Generation S Curler?" [Into The Gloss]

• Two up and coming trends from the spa world -- the farm-to-facial construct, where more and more spas are using fresh-picked ingredients, grown on the spa grounds for their lotions and potions. And, say leading spa authorities, more and more men are pampering themselves with treatments. Male visitors are up from 33 percent to 47 percent, according to International Spa Association. You guys are hogging all the good massage therapists! [The Times and Democrat]

• Away from her adoring fans, Emma Stone sticks to mascara and eyebrow pencil and that's it. God, is she perfect or what? [Glamour]

• Hey, Eiza Gonzalez, Liam Hemsworth's new lady friend, admitted she got a nose job back in 2011. Sometimes honesty really is the best policy. [Hollywood Life]
