How to Make Your Hair Straight

Coveting stick-straight hair that doesn't frizz the moment you step outside? These tips for how to make your hair straight will give you weather-proof style

Straight hair is a classic. It's a favorite amongst celebrities and women of the real world alike. The queen of straight hair herself, Jennifer Anniston, has given us some great ideas for gorgeous straight hairstyles in the past. But how should you style your straight tresses now? And even more importantly, you probably want to know how to make your hair straight AND have it last all day. Follow these quick tips for perfect straight hair that will last through any situation.

Start by washing hair with a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for straight hair. Look for the words "sleek," "straightening" and "frizz control" on the bottle.

While hair is still damp, apply a heat-activated styling product. There are loads of creams and styling lotions that protect hair from the heat. Some products even guarantee straight hair that will last up to three days. If you need help selecting the right hair product for you, check out these examples of fabulous hair oils.

The next step for how to make your hair straight is the most complex. Blow dry hair using a wide, flat brush. Make sure to aim the blow dryer in a downward direction towards the hair in order to lay the hair cuticles flat and prevent frizz.

Once dry, use a ceramic-plated flat iron to go over the hair and lock in the straight style. Be sure to straighten only one to two-inch sections of hair at a time. Top off the look with hairspray or an anti-frizz serum to protect hair from hot or rainy weather.
