  • If the thought of spreading a pastel robin's egg shade on your lids makes you shiver, take comfort in Chanel makeup artist John Fussell's main rule: "Any woman can wear any color. Period."

  • How to wear it:

  • - Keep your skin tone in mind when you select a shade. Colors look more vibrant on darker skin, FYI.

  • - Blue, violet or gray-eyed women: Accentuate your natural color with indigo or navy (try the navy shadow from Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Bleu Celestes). John's tip: Shade eyes with brown and dab a spot of indigo in the middle of the lid.

  • - Brown-eyed girls (green and hazel, too): Rejoice! Almost any shade of blue will complement your eye color.

  • Blue is also a great color for waking up tired eyes. Try a blue liner to help tone down redness or line eyes with light aqua blue shadow for a fun alternative to the white pencil. (My personal favorite: a light teal blue with gold flecks like MAC Paint Pot in Rollickin'.)

  • Still not into it? John recommends trying a dark blue mascara. (Jane makes a great shade, Deep Ocean, that won't strain your budget.)

    • This is a very exotic, yet simple and pretty look.

    • I have always wondered how to use blue eyeshadow with blue eyes. I will definitely try this look out this next week. I have always been afraid of blue eyeshadow as I remember how it looked in the 80s.
